Hype for the raising stars
Re: Hype for the raising stars
Great clip!
Thanks I enjoyed that.
I haven't seen some of the fights they showed clips from, that was interesting.
I agree with the commentary that Joyce looks slow. They should put all ten of them in a series like the WBSS and see who comes out on top

Interesting guys in the next wave
This was the first time I heard of that Russian dude Rostislav Plechko. Beastly looking guy with quite drastic approach to the game... Should be lot of fun if he can beat anyone half decent

Nice video...thanks.
It's very current and has some guys I was not familiar with, but I'm surprised he included only 2 of the 7 amateur HW stars that have turned pro in the past 12 months (Dubois & Joyce):

Yeah I was wondering if it is Plechko. I tried to find any other pic from him with the tattoo but failed to do so.HyacinthusTurnipseed wrote: ↑25 Mar 2018, 12:22It's Plechko's face, I'm pretty sure. Just with a tattoo photoshopped onto it fit some reason?
Weird thing if they photoshopped that in

Plechko is too small. Unless he developes the skills on the level of Povetkin it will be very hard for him to reach top-10. Arias is even smaller.
Also, it's interesting that Efe Ajagba is listed 6'3' on BoxRec. He seems to be at least 1 inch taller than that

Re: Hype for the raising stars
Moreso than the smaller weight classes, the HWs seem to be ruled in recent decades at the pro level by former amateur stars. Based on the major HW successes of the last 50+ years I would say 4-5 of the 6 new pros listed above will eventually make the top 5 worldwide with even a few probable world title beltholders (not saying there's not a "Fraudley" Harrison in the group).Boxing Writer wrote: ↑26 Mar 2018, 18:24Unlikely. Klitschkos (Vitali was non-Olympian but was 1995 World Champ Silver Medalist)
Lewis
Holyfield
Tyson (Olympic alternate at 17)
Bowe
Foreman
Frazier
Ali
Probably the only significant HW champ missing from that list in the last 50 years is Larry Holmes.

I saw that on YouTube the other day. I figured these clips show the best of the fighter, so I wasn't jumping towards any of them as of now with the possible exception of Efe. Good clip for watching though.

If it wasnt for Glazkov's knee injury Martin probably wouldnt have won the IBF belt in the first place. Not that Glazkov would have been anything more than a paper champ either. That was one of those rare world title bouts with two undeserving contenders!!
Re: Hype for the raising stars
his credentials were decent though not on olympic level
