Trivia
In 1982, Marvin Hagler was forced to postpone a mandatory defence of his world middleweight title against Fully Obel when he suffered a broken rib in sparring.
Who broke his rib?
Also in 1982, Gerry Cooney, in training for his showdown with Larry Holmes, was outjabbed with embarrassing ease in sparring by which heavyweight?

Hmm.. first guess would be Frank Fletcher?
*thinks of names*
Lupe Aquino?
Those two guys come to mind though neither would be that good prep for Obel. Someone like In Chul Baek would be best there but I highly doubt he sparred with The Marvelous One.
Not sure about the Cooney one (weren't you at this one, bennie!?)

As Richie Aprille said, it was Bobby Watts who busted Hagler's rib in the summer of 1982. A doctor who examined Hagler said it would take two months to heal, and his defence against Obel, scheduled for late July 1982 in Italy, was put back till October.
"This is the first time anything like this has happened to me," said frustrated Marvin. "I've been training for so long, I just want to fight."
Watts was training for a comeback, which would end in 1983 when Mark Kaylor stopped him in four stormy rounds at Wembley.
It was Joe Bugner who jabbed Cooney's head off in sparring about 10 days before Cooney's fight with Holmes. They only sparred two rounds, and Bugner was not asked to spar again, though he continued to train with the camp.
Cooney pounded on lesser lights Ishaq Hussein and Walter Santemore in sparring instead.

The Hagler - Mugabi fight was also delayed due to Marvin getting his nose busted up in sparring, can't recall who the sparring parter was though.bennie wrote:"This is the first time anything like this has happened to me," said frustrated Marvin.
