Not many will be willing to take it at short notice so if Andrade is up for it, I see no reason why he shouldn't get the shot.

I see GGG beating him in about 8 rounds, but that's no worse than a lot of GGG's previous opponents have done.
Have you seen Andrade fight?
Vanes was very competitive with Andrade and dropped him. He is no match for Golovkin.
I rate Vanes quite high as well.

I'd love to see G-Andrade. But, as I have stated, he is too high risk, low reward.

I'm actually surprised no other fighters have taken this golden opportunity to potentially save the biggest show of the year.

It may not have even been Andrade's idea...sounds more like a brainchild born in a promoter's office!! But either way a very ambitious step... :TU:

Wanting to fight GGG so he can duck Derev?

Andrade is better than many think. I doubt if GGG will want to fight him. He has proving to do for sure, but has better over-all skills than Lara, in the opinion of Virgil Hunter. He is a south paw too, plus a height and reach advantage on most. If he is such an easy mark the top guys would want him for a tune up.
Andrade has lots of critics but compared to his fellow 2008 Olympian Matt Korobov he's done pretty well. Demetrius & Matt were 2 of the hottest names to emerge from the Beijing Olympics (neither won medals there but both were 2007 World Championships Gold Medalists). Korobov & Andrade were both on the fast track as pros for awhile, but both got derailed by long layoffs.

Korobov just ended his 16-month layoff last Saturday with a 6-round decision over a journeyman in Miami. There was a time when people were talking about an eventual showdown between Korobov and GGG!!

Even before the crushing loss to Lee I dont think Matt was promoted very well by Arum or matched very well by Top Rank matchmakers. Before the Lee loss his most significant win was a 10-rounder over Andre Dirrell conqueror Jose Uzcategui. Korobov's fight last Saturday was his first one NOT on a Top Rank card, so it looks like Arum may have dumped him.

I'd like to see the guy still make it but at 35 his time has probably passed.

It's like when people gave Khan a pass for waiting on Mayweather instead of fighting Brook. It's a duck. Instead of fighting a sure thing, he's waiting on GGG.

Enlightened-One wrote: 27 Mar 2018, 04:03 The problem I have with Andrade taking this fight is his lack of self-belief, because it was only two months ago when he said he wasn’t ready to face someone like Billy Joe Saunders, due to being too small for his new weight class.

However, now that an opportunity has presented itself for Demetrius to earn a career-high pay day, he has volunteered his services to fight the "baddest" most destructive man the middleweight division has to offer.

I don’t know his personal financial situation and from a monetary perspective, I can appreciate the justification for his actions, but from a sporting and a safety viewpoint, I really hate seeing bouts between two men where one is the big punching heavy favourite, whilst the other one thinks that he’s too small and likely to lose.

How the hell are HBO supposed to sell a bout between Andrade and Golovkin, when there are several very recent YouTube videos and interview transcripts of Demetrius admitting that he’s not big enough to face the best 160lb-ers on the planet? Also, imagine what would happen if the American was to suffer a serious injury whilst facing GGG, especially considering his own words, coupled with his lack of credibility/experience at the weight?

How does HBO sell this potential matchup?

By touting Andrade as an American Olympian who is an undefeated 2 time world champion in the pro ranks.

And throw in that Andrade holds an amateur victory over Keith Thurman.

But HBO doesn't have to go overboard in selling it.

If the Canelo bout gets delayed until September, expect a Golovkin-Andrade match to be booted from any PPV possibility and end up on a regular broadcast.
