I am feed up of Canelo-GGG endless story. Am I the only one ?

Post by ValMar »

I like both of them, they have very attractive styles, there is not any dilemma about that.....But, I am very tired because of the weight issues, financial issues, PED stories, etc...etc....
If I could choose, I would prefer to see Jacobs vs. Charlo or Saunders vs Derv.......(excuse me, I am not sure about spelling his long Ukrainan surname)................

What about you ? Am I really the only one ?

One of the things that TV networks and promoters attempt to do is to market their bouts heavily… and the best way to do this for free is to either fabricate the existence of a fictional and theatrical dislike between both fighters (i.e. to market the bout as a grudge match) or to embellish the severity of certain stories that help retain the media spotlight. The PED “scandal” allows K2 & GBP to do both.

This sort of behaviour isn’t unusual, because if you’re British, a Sky Sports subscriber and should any so-called “controversies” relate to one of their Box Office events, they’ll relentlessly dwell on such matters every hour 24/7, since it helps to sell their PPV’s.

How does the sayings go? "All publicity is good publicity, as long as they spell your name right."... "The only thing worse than being talked about is not being talked about."... "There's no such thing as bad publicity except your own obituary."

I have to be honest though, even a self-confessed die-hard boxing fan like myself, has grown weary of all the Canelo-GGG excessive media hype. I just want to see the fight happen or not happen, so all the media outlets, websites and forums start covering other topics.

Honestly I stopped following it soon after the positive test. What's been going on?

Hungry?

I just want this fight to be over with. No trilogy. If it's meant to be, maybe in a few years if GGG is still around.

Ive been bored of it well before Alvarez's failed test, the 1st fight was great but I'm not big on immediate rematches due to horrendous judging

I didn't really care to see the rematch in the first place as I didn't find it necessary. All it's gonna prove is that if the judges will f*ck ya once they'll f*ck ya twice.

Amen
GGG will need to knock him out to get a draw this time

Guess he walked into that one!

In any case this is a big story not just for the biggest fight in the sport but for the future of the sport. Regardless of whether the fight takes place May 5th or later this could be boxing history in the making.

Besides how else are the fans going to get the bad things changed?

I'm still undecided on getting this PPV.
The first fight decision was bad, especially the difference in judging. I don't want to see that again.
I was also unimpressed with the way Canelo fought to survive, and rarely engaged.
GGG has slipped, can we just agree on that? It's hard to watch a boxer decline, especially when they are still at the top level ala Pac.
Finally, I agree with Valmar, I'm sick of all the crap.
If the undercard shapes up well, then maybe I'll get the feed. If not, I will wait for the result.

The only thing that i'm fed up with is how Canelo is now the new Floyd. The untouchable one in Vegas. Boxing doesn't need this kind of shat anymore. I really hoped that Boxing could get back to Boxing when Floyd was done and gone but who am i kidding? Vegas always has to have that one Boxer that brings in the revenue once a year on the strip. They've chosen Canelo as the one and the rest of us just have to grin and bear it because there's no way Canelo is going to lose on the cards in Vegas now. They don't care how horrible it looks.

I think that's why we saw Canelo do so much running in the first fight. He was fighting like that to just last and make it to the decision. If i'm GGG or anyone close to him, i'm telling him that if he doesn't press for the KO from round 1 then he's stupid. He MAY get another draw but that's the best he's going to get in Vegas. And that's just sad for the year's biggest fight. Oh and those thinking that this fight will be postponed are idiots. No matter what Canelo's test show, the fight is going forward.

It would be stupid for Golovkin to go for the KO... Canelo is very youthful, very powerful, and has a very good chin... Golovkin has one of the best jabs in the business, and has the height advantage... He's going to lose the decision again if he pursues a KO too hard... He has to jab Canelo like he did Lemieux in the first round... But he has to keep it up for 12.

I disagree for 2 reasons:
1. Canelo ran and did very little of toe to toe fighting in the first fight. When he did, that's when GGG did his best work and there's no way Canelo can handle 12 rounds of that kind of punishment regardless of his chin. Canelo says he will not run in this one...he also said that before the first one.

2.The first fight was too gentlemanly. This time around there's some bad blood. GGG is mad and coming out and saying things about his opponent prior to the fight, which he never does. GGG's got to be pretty darn mad to come out and call his opponent a junky like that. GGG wants to personally penalize GGG and Golden Boy single handedly in this one. Big difference in tenor from the first one. Two completely different fights.

All the hype over clenbuterol is very dull.

I suspect Golovkin is endlessly whining about it strictly as a means to hype the rematch.

The first bout only sold about 1.3 million PPV buys. Rematches historically do worse.

Everyone's hoping that this controversy will help sell the rematch, since the fighters' personalities alone won't do the trick.

In the end, this overblown "scandal" won't help or hinder the PPV sales.

"only sold about 1,3 million PPV buys" "only" ? It is enough money for three generations.
