Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
Well, let's hope Whyte will fight Ortiz as well, let's see how good Ortiz really is.
I expected Ortiz to win against Wilder, but despite Wilder had a few rabbit punches, and a bit of referee help and such Wilder really performed better as I expected. Wilder is really at the top of his carreer right now, he won't get any better so I understand why he wants to face the top contenders right now.

They didn't want Wilder jumping into the ring, grabbing the mike, and yelling "BOMB SQUAD!!!" and all his other antics -- which tries to steal the thunder from Joshua's great KO victory over Joseph Parker...
But they should have set a time table... Give Joshua 20 minutes to celebrate the victory in the ring and thank the fans around the world for tuning in... Let Parker have his say... Then have Wilder step into the ring with his high heeled shoes towering over Joshua and telling everybody he's going to knock AJ out...
But it might be even better this way... Joshua can say he intends to fight Wilder next by saying "Bring your skinny frame over here so I can knock you off your bird legs for the required 10 seconds... The world wants to see it... Let's get it on."

Hearn and Joshua. Proper Brits.
They have no idea how to hype a fight.
Just let Wilder into the ring post-fight. He'll do all the heavy lifting.
These guys would have told Ali to keep quiet.

Let Wilder mouth off, the brits will hate him which will help sell the fight.
Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
Really good fights don't need hyping. They just need to get signed.
No point in having Wilder flap his mouth when his team haven't even sat down to discuss anything.
I think UK boxing fans can see past hot air and Wilders waffle.

Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
A really good fight---Canelo vs Golovkin---didn't sell anywhere what it should have.
Only 1.3 million PPV buys.
Why? Because these two guys don't know how to mouth off. They don't know how to sell.
And it doesn't help that both are English challenged.
Of course a fight needs hype, whether it's signed or not.
Hype is the lifeblood of boxing. Without it, only the hardcore fan pays attention.
The mainstream crowd remains in the dark.
Get Wilder up there. I have a feeling that the Brits will rethink it and Wilder will magically appear in Cardiff Saturday and invade the ring.

Hearn and Joshua don't know how to hype a fight? You know that, after Saturday night, his last three fights will have sold a combined 250,000 tickets and made him more money than Wilder in his entire 40-fight career?SenorPipino wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 14:33 Hearn and Joshua. Proper Brits.

They could make Joshua vs big Derek from the local pub and more people would pay to watch that than watched Wilder/Ortiz.

I understand that ticket prices are terribly cheap in these UK fights.
Bring Joshua to the US, and see if he can sell out at exorbitant Las Vegas prices. If Joshua was starting his career from scratch here, he would basically be ignored, just like Wilder.
And don't forget, it's so much easier to sell a British fighter to his countryman. There's not the plethora of other sports as there is here in the USA. It's not as hard to create a hero there.
People don't pay much attention to boxing here, whether a fighter is a heavyweight champion like Wilder, or some young kid on the rise.
The sports competition is ferocious. And it's not helped that the American mainstream media loathes boxing and gives it scant attention.

Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
Cant blame Wilder for cancelling the UK trip after Hearn & AJ publicly stated they wouldnt allow him in the ring for a post-fight confrontation. That was the whole purpose of Wilder's trip and Sky knew it.

It's no coincidence that the 2 all-time greatest-selling PPVs were Mayweather, who developed a very sound marketing strategy:jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 14:36It does seem rather odd doesn't it?SenorPipino wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 14:33 Hearn and Joshua. Proper Brits.

Let Wilder mouth off, the brits will hate him which will help sell the fight.
FANS + HATERS = TOTAL MARKET
At least half (maybe far more) of the PPV buyers for Floyd's fights paid to see him LOSE.
AJ is popular enough in UK that they wont need to employ the "hater factor" for the sake of selling the fight to Brits but it definitely works in the US & globally (which will bring in major revenue for Joshua-Wilder if promoted properly across the globe). I'm assuming that (as usual) AJ/Hearn will get a % of the American PPV receipts so it makes no sense to ban Wilder from the ring.

Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
Wilders absence is already enough of a drama to keep us going I see.
That said it would have been good to see him Cardiff and the ring afterwards, that would have created a bit of a stir.
They should get Wilder on a live tv feed and have him say a few words to Joshua due to the wonders of technology.

Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
To be fair, from a commercial perspective, Wilder is far less successful than Joshua, which kind of suggests that Deontay's approach to hyping bouts may not be working.SenorPipino wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 14:33 Hearn and Joshua. Proper Brits.

An individuals effectiveness should be judged on their actual results rather than the approach they're using.
You can't pay the bills using effort alone, you need to use money... and AJ is getting paid lots of it, which means his approach is clearly working, whereas Wilder's isn't.

And Joshua makes 10 X what Wilder makes... so blowing your mouth off doesn't sell a bad fight... Ali fought a lot of terrible challengers on free TV.... Leon Spinks was on free TV because everyone thought he was a 3-round job.
Re: WILDER ON EDDIE HEARN
Pretty much confirms everything I have been saying. Hearn doesn't want Joshua to fight Wilder, he wants Wilder to fight Whyte. Hearn is pissed because he would make more money if Wilder showed, so he could hype that fight, while putting off the fight that everyone wants. Joshua agreeing with Hearn also speaks volumes. Extra security and a restraining order? And the pathetic excuse Joshua gave when he let Wlad in the ring.
