Anthony Joshua vs Joseph Parker Prediction

Post by GilFilmore »

Does anyone pick Joseph Parker to win on Saturday night?

This guy gives a valid argument on why he'll win

I'll say this. If Parker wins, it opens up the HW division to a lot of fighters. Also, we'll have to wait even longer for a unification bout. I just don't see it. Joshua too strong; too big; too good. I hope I'm wrong.

Do you think it would be a bad thing for business if Joshua lost?

Yes...for Eddie Hearn(ia) and AJ.

If AJ loses I think a few posters on here may be put on suicide watch.
I have nothing against Joshua but I don't like Hearn. But hell I don't like most promoters

Right!? Cannot stand Hearn. He's probably doing his job, but he's such a freakin' liar I have no use for him. No fault of AJ.

All promoters are liars. If fighters could choose their own opponents we'd see the fights we want to see.
But we are stuck with politics

I agree with that, but it goes against the 'business' side of the sport which has gotten a bit piggish to say the least. Unfortunate.

I fully understand it goes against the current model of boxing. But for a sport that has dwindling ratings. It might be time to revise the current model

Totally!! We're losing the sport. I watched a baseball game today and saw some of where America is losing it's HW boxers, because boxing can be so rigged. Stanton 6'6" 250lbs and Judge 6'7" 282lbs. I'm sure the corrupt business side pushes these guys to other sports. Used to be everyone knew who the HW champion was. Sad. Until it's a single global sanctioning organization, it's hopeless.

If AJ comes in heavy like last time (or heavier) I will go with Parker by late stoppage. If AJ is lighter (even a few pounds) I'll pick him. Parker is getting seriously underrated by almost everyone; Fury and Ruiz are not world beaters, but both are spoilers and hard to look good against. I think that is bringing Parker down in a lot of peoples eyes. AJ will not be looking to spoil, he'll give Parker what he wants. If AJ is in fighting shape he'll take it, but if he's overbulked he's going to get found out and Parker is tough and gritty enough to do it.

That’s bold mate I do hope you’re right, I’m looking at the weigh in as well. I’ll be rooting for Parker but I think AJ is too good, but he’s not doing himself any favours if heavier. I reckon Parker will stay to long in the pocket and get hurt though regardless. Ajs power is tremendous. Expecting a pretty action packed fight as Parker will come to fight and is far more offensive than really anyone AJs fought if you ask me.

Ultimately coming in heavier will slow AJ down, and Parker will be his second best opponent. Parker doesn't hit like Wlad, but he will be much more active and Wlad had AJ on queer street several times but was too old/spent to finish. If AJ starts gassing or gets heavy arms Parker can make him pay. If AJ is in fighting shape I can't see Parker having much success at all though. Josh has too many physical advantages.

All that being said, AJ will be far and away Parkers best foe, and Parker hasn't looked good in any of his last three appearances though I really believe there is more to him than meets the eye. It's going to be a fun fight. :box:

It seems AJ has taken the bait about JP's Elbows....
He made a statement that he is going for Parkers Elbows !
That only exposes his chin..
Don't believe there was any operation on his elbows at all.
Why wait till 5 days out to bring it up?
Now Joshua believes his elbows are suspect and will be going after them.
We know Parker is fast and a massive 3 or 4 punch combo on AJ's chin this whole thing can change.
I think Parker has the best shot at beating Joshua than any of his previous opponents.
Looking forward to this one.
