Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
it really was a half assed open workout wasnt it. almost like hed been sedated before hand. or like he doesnt really care and is just expecting to be blown out quick for the pay day........but in the past ive thought price generally thought he could win, at least until fight night came.
i hope he wasnt watching povetkin throw those power combos on the pads.

Povetkin is 38 and 6.2, I've got the feeling Price is gonna do him. I know nobody thinks this and the fight is a total miss-match and Pov is gonna nearly kill Price but his only got 23 ko's from 33 wins, i say only 23 but look at the other HW's ko percentage.
Price can def do this

povetkins more of a puncher then hammer, thompson, and teper
and whatever the age he just shutout a guy who 2 fights ago kod price
and two of the guys who kod price were around povetkins height
and thompson was in his 40s
if price had only been kod by young hard hitting shws id be more convinced he could do an upset. plus watch his last fight, he looked awful and terrified vs a 4-12 (1) opponent

How old was Thompson? How tall was Teper?higgs88 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2018, 03:26 Povetkin is 38 and 6.2, I've got the feeling Price is gonna do him. teper is on here as 6'5 but look at him and christan hammer together for there fight. there pretty much the same height. hes probably 6'2.5 tops. his listing has to be one of the bigger height fibs.
and of course look how much more 'impressive' price looks then one of the blobs who ktfo him

I really want Price to do it; likeable bloke and to chin a drug cheat in a massive upset in a huge venue would be getting on for fairytale stuff.
But he's miles out of his depth here surely. He's got two minutes to have a go for me - I just hope he tries to lay him out quickly rather than cover up, look terrified and seemingly wait for the end to come.

Believe me i knew posting that would get the response its getting, but i just don't see this as a destructive job like its being hyped up to be.
Price has been ko'd by a few i know, so it does sound stupid but i just think his got more a chance than most believe

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
thing is though, you mention things like height, age, power.....but price has already been ko'd by guys lesser punching the povetkin, older then povetkin, and no taller then povetkin. but has price beaten anyone as good as povetkin or even lasted the distance with them?
i mean price is tall and can punch, but havent we already seen that those alone have only taken him to wins at british level?

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
thats the thing with price, with his height and power on the surface he strikes a formidable figure vs these smaller guys
i think thats why hes always been favoured up till now. its just too easy to think hell find the shots eventually.

Povitkin looked mean in the open workout.
Yes I know it is a side show, his combos and head movement looked great though.
Price has got to really pull something out of the bag to stay in there with the T-Rex.

If big Dave insists on carrying on, well it’s pretty obvious what he’s gotta do, despite the nerves - knowing he’s getting ko’d If it goes past 2 rounds ..just go out and land that feckin’ huge right hand, and shock the world.
But he’s got same trainer hasn’t he ? Big mistake, he needs a new voice who could instil in him the confidence to go for broke early.

Price stood upright looking at Povetkin like a deer in the headlights and then the "fair enough, im getting starched on saturday" look after the staredown.

If big Pricey can find a home for the jab early on he might be able to box his way to a points victory ........
If he shites himself and doesn't commit hes going to sleep.
I like Pricey but think like most of you hes getting iced

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
He needs to look at what Wlad did to a much younger Povetkin, who was fighting in his own backyard.
Let's not forget, this is a 38 year old Povetkin, who will hopefully be drug free for the first time in a while, and who's not fought out of Russia for 6 years . Povetkin has allowed opposition to go the distance that (down on paper at least), doesn't have Price's ability. The longer price is in there, the odds of him landing a decent right hand go up - and at that point, anything could happen.
If he can get past a couple of rounds, work his jab and try to keep the centre of the ring and tie Povetkin up when he gets close ...... IF IF IF. Ah, if only.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
price isnt one to get stronger with rounds, i think his best shot is early, like rounds 1 or 2.

Be great if he could pull it off but I really can't see it.
Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
I can’t remember witnessing a heavyweight with Prices physical attributes and well schooled amateur background have such a pathetic jab as he did against Tepper. Price has completely fallen apart as a fighter.chrisnew86 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2018, 10:42 If big Pricey can find a home for the jab early on he might be able to box his way to a points victory ........
It’s not so long ago fans were buying into Big Dave, most favoured him against Tyson Fury.
Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
not just fury, who tbf didnt look so hot at times coming up and got dropped by light hitters
there was plenty of talk about him koing all sorts of top fighters and doing in wlad and vit. wasnt he named espns prospect of the year? id say at a point he was the hottest thing in hw boxing or close to it, he was flaming hot and a future great and then it all crashed

70% picked Price over Fury

Never knew he was espn prospect of the year!!
Shame as he’s a likeable character, just couldn’t get over the harsh realisation that he didn’t have the chin to compete in professional heavyweight boxing, never mind anywhere near the top level.

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
In don't think Price could even spell jab! He never throws it! He should be a boss with the jab but doesn't ever use it! I'd like to know if he uses it in sparring! It's fuckin frustrating watching him move around like a scared child and pawing the jab out! He's got a spaghetti chin but he should be performing a lot better than what he does!chrisnew86 wrote: ↑29 Mar 2018, 10:42 If big Pricey can find a home for the jab early on he might be able to box his way to a points victory ........

Re: Alexander Povetkin vs. David Price - March 31st 2018
and against sokolowski he was afraid to commit to anything, id never seen him that tapping before with even the right, he was pulling everything like he was terrified of being countered
thats vs a 6 foot guy with 1 ko and 4 wins in around 20 fights
