Yes...and Ortiz is a master of controlling positioning.

Ortiz wins via late knock out or wide decision
My sentiments also.

Beating a rugged but very limited fighter in Browne---even if it was in spectacular fashion---doesn't suddenly make Whyte a world beater.

No one thought that Whyte was a special fighter pre-Browne. He pretty much made a name for himself by staggering Joshua before getting KO'd.

Ortiz is a wiley experienced southpaw puncher who is technically light years more advanced than Whyte.

And yes, the Wilder defeat could have a major effect on Ortiz' effectiveness and desire.

But if we toss those intangibles aside, Ortiz should simply be too cagey and too powerful for Whyte.

I watched the Wilder-Oriz fight again last night, and was really impressed by the performance in the first 6 rounds. Unfortunately he did tire, although that could of been a culmination of the Wilder punches he was having to absorb. I think if Whyte was to force a fast pace early, it would play into Ortiz hands. His best bet would be force a pace which is low risk, and then crank up the pressure 9-12.

Ortiz is highly skilled, and does move well early for a bigger guy, so Whyte would also have to make sure that he doesn't give himself a mountain to climb points wise.

Age will be factor here. Ortiz, 4 years ago would’ve KOd Whyte. Now, I’m not so sure. If it goes past 7, Whyte would probably win.

You can’t beat the clock.

I figure Ortiz is the better fighter in a vacuum, but Ortiz was KO'd recently, confidence and time are not on his side. I'd have to imagine there would never be a timing from here forward where Ortiz would be the actual favorite. By the time he fully gets over the KO and rebuilds some momentum, he will have suffered a year of age-related decline and will be worse than Whyte.
