The drug cheat.
How much did the first fight with Chemistry Alvarez propel his stardom?
I guess It would also depend on the opponent (somewhat), in terms of their name, nationality and achievements, etc. Surely Golovkin would be the A side with anyone other than Canelo or Floyd.
What about fighting on 5th of May without Canelo. Would Mexico tune in?
Is this what people want to see? Him fighting someone else and potentially getting a bigger cut of a smaller pie?
*please note, if you think, for example, 400,500 buys please put that in the 400,000 Column! Not the 401,000 column!
How much could a Golovkin PPV fight sell without....

I think the drama and hype of Canelo failing the rest would draw attention to whoever GGG fights.
So for this I would say 700k

Golovkin barely attracted bubkis for his pre-Canelo PPV fights against Lemuiex and Jacobs.
Why should anyone believe that bouts against Andrade, O'Sullivan, Jacobs or Charlo wouldn't also be box office busts?
It's Cinco de Mayo. Fans want a Latino opponent. Otherwise, no one is buying. Only Canelo sells.
I assume HBO would pull any Golovkin fight from its PPV slot if Canelo is suspended, and instead televise on regular HBO.
Putting a Golovkin bout on PPV would be a disaster. About 200,000 buys at most.

The added attention and publicity of the 1st Canelo fight, and all the hoopla about the rematch whether it goes down or not would help a little.
A fight between he and Saunders might do well between the U.K. buy rates, and the U.S.
It'd actually be smart to do that fight in Wembley if they were to do it because that'd probably be where it would make the most money, but if GGG wanted the fight in New York or a neutral location he'd certainly be well within his rights to request that.

Didn't Golovkin-Jacobs only do 170K? So why are people convinced that Golovkin (without Canelo) does silly numbers like 700K?

Cuz people can be silly.Enlightened-One wrote: ↑28 Mar 2018, 15:34 Didn't Golovkin-Jacobs only do 170K? So why are people convinced that Golovkin (without Canelo) does silly numbers like 700K?![]()
As a reminder, Golovkin-Lemieux only drew 150,000 on PPV.
Golovkin badly needs Canelo to be cleared by NSAC.
A fight with Saunders might do well in the UK. In the US, it would be pretty much ignored.

..I don't attach that much importance to these numbers..the top guys get paid enough to make both ends meet whether it's 3 or 30 million..what's important is that the cheat should be out imo..
