Joseph Parker ... Chin ?

Post by Evander »

Looks like he's face first put the chin right out there kind of boxer.

What do you think of him ?

I think he is a decent fighter, jabs looking well, but he is going to get stopped

His biggest chance is to try and box Joshua all night long, if he starts to fight he'll get busted :bag:

He'll do well for a spell then get ko

I don't think he has chin issues, and I don't think Joshua will stop him. Parker has been facing some hellacious competition. I don't think he gets enough credit for fighting the styles he has. While Wilder's two biggest names, Stiverne and Ortiz, were both stylistically counterpunchers, Parker faced Takam, Ruiz Jr., and Fury. 3 radically different styles and tough matches.

Hard to look good against that gauntlet.

We will find out. I don’t think it’s in Vitali Klitschko or Oliver McCall league and any HW can get knocked out if they don’t see it coming.

I think he’s tough though. Probably in the same league as Ortiz.

He's taken a lot of punches on the chin, and it is good. However, his ability to keep his chin out of harm's way is not as good, and I think it's going to take a pretty brutal beating against Joshua.

Decent - surely
Very decent - likely
Excellent (as V. Klitschko, McCall or Čuvalo) - ??? If yes, he got some chance against Joshua............

His chin is better than Ali’s chin . Ali was dropped a few times in his early career as well .

What we don’t know and even Parker doesn’t know is if he is dropped will he recover fast enough to get up and fight back or will he be in dreamland

Joshua's chin is much more suspect than Parker's, and he has a good chin. Any heavyweight that takes big shots and continues are fine chin-wise until they don't.
Many here thought Wilder had no chin due to his skinny legs.

Parker so far has a great chin.

parrker was hurt by brazilian journeyman marcelo nascimento, seems many dont know of this fight. he got buckled and then spent the next minute/minute and half moving, punching very little, and tryng to recover

doesnt mean his chint aint sturdy but ppl act like hes never been hurt before

Parker has a wild style and tends to stay on the attack. This may give Joshua some trouble. He also has some thunder in his right hand so, who knows, maybe Joshua will be the "stopped"one? I like Joshua and see great potential but I think a good challenge is best for his development right now. Tommy Hearns was a knockout king for a good spell and I think it may have stalled his developing ring savvy (which he eventually did) and made it difficult for him to know how to weather an effective offensive from an opponent. Tough fights are good for developing fighters!

Yeah, and Canelo got hurt by Cotto's fat cousin early in his career too. Doesn't mean his chin isn't granite.

lol never said it did, although at least with canelo that was 8 years ago and hes since shown an excellent chin vs good punchers, whereas joe hasnt faced any elite bangers

plus its just factually wrong yo claim parkers never been hurt, as many do

I figure he takes a decent shot, but his defense is definitely gonna be tested hard, and I figure AJ is a big enough hitter that even if you take a good shot you can only take so many of 'em from a guy like that.

Parker could be the 1st guy who goes the distance with Joshua....

He took some really big shots from Takam and Ruiz hit him very good as well... Parker definitely is a great absorber if nothing else... But he turned it up somewhat in this training camp.. I think Parker is coming on somewhat... He has to be much better to beat Joshua so he really worked at it... We might see some new wrinkles from him.

I see a really good fight and AJ coming on in the middle rounds -- and getting a stoppage in the 5th to 9th rounds.

We will know about Parker's chin after tonight. He hasn't been in against an elite level pro yet so we'll see how he responds if he takes a big shot.

Of course, he could have a granite chin and still get stopped on his feet if he is taking a pummeling.

Rather than relying on having a head like a breeze block, he'll presumably be trying to stay out of AJs way and aim to stop him late if he tires.

That was a burst eardrum.
He wasn't concussed but it caused loss of balance as happens with ear problems.
Parker is tough.
He didn't give a toss and knocked Nascimento out.

If you consider AJ an elite level pro lol. Who has AJ beaten ? A 44 year old man Klitschko who was 2 years out of ring and coming of a terrible loss vs Fury is Joshua’s best win lol.

AJ beating Parker would be a step towards being elite but Parker isn’t even a top 5 fighter by boxrec and Klitschko wasn’t even ranked he was INACTIVE

Combine that with the fact that Parker is not difficult to hit, nor a runner, you can't see this going the distance.

It's do or die time for both of them. Joshua by stoppage.

He did get up from a Klit punch that almost nobody could. So, I think he's elite enough for today's toughman level of heavyweights.

If Parker's chin somehow does not hold, it will only be because Joshua's power is at super hero type levels.

Joshua's power is well known, definitely. Parker's chin will be known tomorrow. That's it.

Wow, you have seen that fight?
Not many outside NZ have. It's not one they repeat either. Parker looked bad in that one. He was only 22 I think.
