Joshua-Parker Worst Ref I've Ever Seen !

Post by Tony1244 »

Does this idiot referee know punching is legal in boxing?

Not sure if he wants to abolish boxing or he just likes touching these guys.

Dreadful.
Happy to jump in mid action for no reason, happy to almost cause boxers to take big punches, happy to let tape flap around dangerously etc etc

If he was trying to help Joshua, he may have caused Joshua a KO win.

I have never seen a ref this bad. Sorry for saying that a million times but I'm almost in shock.

That was very odd. The tape was loose in the previous round, and then the ref just sort of patted it down. Joshua seemed to just wave his hand to the ref as if to say 'this needs fixing and you've missed it.'

Aye, at one point he caught Parker's eye for an imminent break unseen by Joshua behind him, who very nearly carried on throwing. He half-landed a free shot, and anyone dirtier might well have!

Mario next time, not Luigi.

There was a bit of action in later rounds where I felt Joshua stunned Parker and ref jumped in and actually saved Parker from taking another punch .

I mean as a Fight fan I want to see fight not break as soon as fighters get close.

With that ref no shorter fighter has a chance at beating Joshua even prime Mike Tyson would lose

I’ve yet to see a decent Italian referee. They really don’t have a clue but always seems to get decent gigs because the EBU is based out of Rome.

You might want to watch Danny Williams vs Konstantin Airich. He must be the worst referee ever. Perhaps this Italian chap aspires to reach such dizzying heights of ineptitude...

I was pondering the Tyson question about an hour ago. He'd have found it much harder against today's big men with that sort of refereeing.

The ref was a joke, Parker's best chance of winning was to outwork Joshua on the inside.
But also, Joshua looked like he could land a big shot on the inside before the ref broke it up.

The story of the fight was Parker not commiting to combinations, and subsequently, Joshua unable to land decisive counters.

A more lemient ref could have changed the entire complexion of this fight. Which could have been to the benefit of both fighters.

Very frustrating. As soon as they came together he was breaking them up, on more than one occasion they weren't even clinching.

I don't think it benefited either - it was Parker's only chance to get in range and Joshua always looks for that left hook-uppercut combo so they were both screwed.

Nowhere near the worst I've seen. Ian john lewis & joe cortez are like the Messi and Ronaldo of bad boxing refs.

He was awful. Who was the ref who did a lot of bouts on Germany for Ottke? He was a joke.

Awful referee. Could not speak english. Why was he allowed to ref both guys spoke english. ??! Joshua would of won fight still but would of been much better had they allowed Parker more.inside work. This was a very important fight so surprised they didn't have a well known very experienced ref. If I had been Parker I wouldn't of been happy.

Ref potentially cost Parker the fight.. i like a bit of inside fighting and Joshua likes it too.. with Joshua's long reach, it was the only way for Parker to attack.. getting on the inside. He certainly wasn't afraid.. not taking anything away from AJ.. did what he had to do to win.. styles make fights. But these 2 kinda clashed.

Nothing to do with AJ not getting a KO, but Parker kinda made him look just above average.

Parker showed movement can cause AJ problems. Tyson Fury has a longer reach and moves so unorthodoxly.. i wonder..

You beat me to it. Roger Tilleman. Had never reffed a title fight before and never did after. I think somebody told him beforehand that his job was to keep Ottke safe.

Would also nominate Isidro Rodriguez, who helped a knocked out Juan Martin Coggi survive against Eder Gonzalez in 1993

100% agree. If ever there was something dodgy in a title fight it was that one. I think sven knew he was being looked after. He gave away the last few rounds despite bring - if it was being scored properly - a mile.behind. in the last round he just give it away and backed off, forfeiting the round without any concern. The bell rang and he just smiled and raised his hands. He knew.

The ref was poor. Why would he get the job?

Italian refs are dodgy and that bloke last night could barely speak Anglais

He made IJL look like a pro.

Spoiled the fight for me and didn’t help either fighter.

Parker needed to get inside to have any joy with Joshua’s reach advantage but there was a few times where he broke them up when Joshua looked to be on the cusp of landing.

Who was actually in charge of appointing the referee for the fight?

In between rounds sky asked fast car how he thought the fight was going, they then asked him if he thought the ref was doing a bad job and fast car said he thought the ref was doing well?????
