Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Seems to be very little press coverage or chat & banter from fight fans about the James Degale v Caleb Truax fight. I’m actually really looking forward to it... Here’s my Vlog on it.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Nobody ever really cared about Degale. His personality has always been tedious. He had some momentum but when he went around slagging Groves and talking so much trash about how he was going to do this and that to Groves and then the fight stunk the joint out and he lost, that was it. He was never going to do good numbers in the UK again. If he was as good as he claimed and stopped Groves he could have got the Froch PPV fight. He could have been the Brit Mayweather that everyone came to see lose and done great numbers but Groves took all that away. Now, nobody in the UK even knows he's fighting.
Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Who is actually promoting it?
DeGale's had a weird career. Big name after the Olympics, then a bit of a love to hate image and a slide into comparative anonymity after the Groves loss when Hennessy had him fighting in shopping centres.
But after that he had some really big names in some really good fights and the world title of course. Odds-on to become a two time world champion this weekend and even people who's favourite sport is boxing seem to have forgotten he's even having a fight.

I've no interest in Degale or his rematch this weekend to be honest,he had a short period where he looked quite destructive but most of his fights have been stinkers and i hate the way he switches off mid way through fights and then claims he did enough to win.

For the reasons stated in the video I think there’s excellent betting value here.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
To be honest, I don't really care about Degale either.
When he was actually decent, he was a bit of a nincompoop, especially around the time of the George Groves fight.
He's actually belatedly matured into a real life adult now, but his skillset has now diminished & every fight he has is now difficult.
He should probably beat Truax, but then, he should probably have done it the first time around, so who knows?
Either way, I couldn't care less, to be honest.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Im well past caring about Degale, to be honest id forgot this rematch was even happening..
Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Yes, I'm looking forward to the fight. He comes across well these days and has accomplished a lot in his career.
People who say his skill set is diminished forget, or ignore, the fact that De Gale has had injuries. Now he's had surgery to his right hand he should be able to throw it with confidence. Chunky to win on points.

Degale has been saying that shit for years though, one fight hes injured, then hes injury free etc etcShambles wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 07:46 Yes, I'm looking forward to the fight. He comes across well these days and has accomplished a lot in his career.

I was not surprised he lost to Truax, the writing was on the wall when you've been beaten up consecutively the last 4 or 5 fights, and i expect another hard fight for him.

He's definitely shopworn, but should still have enough to beat Truax. He has too really, or he's going to drop way down the pecking order.
Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
I'm actually really looking forward to seeing how DeGale approaches this fight. He was absolutely garbage last time out and left the ring with a lot of questions needing answered. It's gonna be interesting to see how he copes so soon after the last fight.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
He has just never been a popular fighter for whatever reason, hence boxing away all the time.
I don't dislike him, I am absolutely apathetic towards him and I can't really put my finger on the reason why.

I care purely so we can see a big fight against Groves or Smith.. not a fan though

Always come across as a loudmouth tosser could be a reason
Really bad PR job when you think about it but I doubt anybody could have sat him down and made him listen. He needed someone to sit him down and say look at how Joshua is acting - that's how you need to act. Degale seems like a hoodrat through and through though. He'd have been mouthing off no matter what. He went on every TV/radio show he could and mouthed about doing Groves and then participated in a stinkout.
Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
I didn't even know this was happening and it's less than a week away.
Warren is a woeful promoter.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
I'm interested in the rematch just to see if Degale can give a better effort than he did the 1st time, but I expect Truax will be able to outhustle him again and take a decision. I mean if he could beat him on points in England, he can beat him on points in America.
Degale always has a tendency to half ass it from Round 7 or so onward, while Truax is at least consistent.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
It's on allegedly. Shouldn't he be promoting that?
Isn't DeGale still signed with Warren?
Just because he isn't promoting the show itself, it doesn't mean he can't put a tiny bit of effort into promoting this fight.

I don't really care about it no
DeGale getting beaten again imo

Will be interesting to see if he can put the first fight right- I mean if he loses again, he’s definitely finished.
Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Who is? I know it's on BN. They're presumably promoting it to people who watch repeats on BN during the week. So, about 0.00000000000000000001% of the population.
This is an Olympic gold medal winner, who fought Groves in a very big fight from a domestic point of view, fighting for a world title, on a boxing forum like this people are admitting they forget it was even happening. That says something has gone very wrong from a promotional point of view.

Re: Does nobody care about Degale v Truax?
Degale has slipped under the radar for this fight but that might suit him, he's been humbled already against this fella so hardly surprising he isn't talking trash and bullsh1t for the rematch. Probably hoping he just wins and hopes we'll all forget about their first bout! I am looking forward to it though, I'm intrigued to see how he responds to a defeat at this stage of his career. He responded well after the Groves loss but that was years ago and he hasn't actually won a fight in two years currently! I know he's not fought very regularly in that time but winning is a habit and Chunky seems to have shaken it . . . .

American promoters that usually work with Al Haymon.
Yes, the fight is on BN, which means you would think Warren would do a bit of promoting on his side.. plus, he's not even the main event. It's Lara vs. Hurd.

True, I was aware the fight had been made but had no idea it was this coming weekend.dirk2686 wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 12:56Who is? I know it's on BN. They're presumably promoting it to people who watch repeats on BN during the week. So, about 0.00000000000000000001% of the population.

Degale has become irrelevant really, by fighting overseas, being inactive (not his fault), not facing any high profile UK opponents (its not like there aren't any), and then getting beat by an unknown.
as far as i can see al haymon may be a financial genius and a brilliant deal maker but, as we have seen with wilder and his purses, where is the actual promotion ? where is anyone banging the drum for degale ? in fairness to eddie, you could not accuse him of failing to promote his fighters. its like he can't fxxking stop promoting them at times !
