Parker and Povetkin won last night
Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
Wilder can’t knock out Parker because he is knockout proof .
If you see in slow motion some of the few punches which landed on Parker it looks like he got hit by a train and didn’t even phase him ... greatest chin I’ve ever seen

Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
I agree... Parker will pursue Wilder and get better shots on him... But that fight will be AFTER Joshua knocks Wilder out... Joshua didn't fight scared.... He used a boxing and jabbing strategy because they thought Parker would be pursuing and he didn't... It's more difficult to be the aggressor, but it does get you more points on the cards... Joshua dominated.Mexi-Box wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 21:56Wilder doesn't have Joshua's skills. Parker will make him look worse than Szpilka did. Parker is a lot better than Szpilka.Grailer wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 21:43Joshua will be retired well before then . Joshua won’t beat Wilder if fights scared like he did against Parker.Kalan wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 18:40
Ahhh NOOOO!!! .... Joshua will still be active when he's 36 or 37 bank on it... and he'll be better because Klitschko taught him... "As you making millions of dollars, invest in your career... better trainers... better sparring partners... better equipment... better food... better facilities... Everyything to make you a better fighter and harder to beat...
After you start losing you can't afford to do that... You take cheap fights, using cheap spar-mates in cheap gyms."
Or words to that effect..... All you have to do is Youtube Joshua's training regimens to see how serious he is. Wilder is also extremely serious about being good if he's not as smart... He's not giving up the game anytime soon.
Also it’s very difficult to keep all those belts once the mandatory fights start piling up . 5 belts 5 fights a year .. can’t see it happening.
And once he dumps a belt Parker will be there to snatch it up like a hungry dog to carry more bargaining power.
Joshua's not going anywhere... He's not retiring... He'll be around until 2028 at the very least.

Parker landed some body shots in spells, but nothing to suggest he had the beating of Joshua.
Parker, whose arms are much shorter than joshua's, had to fight on the inside. The crooked ref wouldn't let him. That's why i said he should be declared the winner, or at least no contest.

Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 18:04But styles make fights and Parker was backing away from Joshua for the most part but still lost nearly every round whilst surviving from suffering a knockout loss. Whilst Povetkin comes forward and attacks ultra-aggressively a lot of the times whilst leaving himself wide open. Which makes him far more susceptible to Joshua's enormously strong physical onslaught of punches which I don't Povetkin could really take. This is why I believe it's a horrible stylistic match up for Sasha. What do you think?x2x wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 17:47Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 17:33
Still think this is a physical mismatch in favor of Joshua. The sheer raw physical strength of Anthony Joshua is almost unreal and is near unprecedented for a heavyweight boxer. His sheer physical presence alone enables him to control fights and win rounds easily. It intimidates his opponents and forces them backwards in fear of his punching power, which causes them to give up the center of the ring and enables Joshua to easily control the center of the ring and to win rounds and subsequently fights from the center of the ring easily by either landing more punches or by stoppage by being able to break his opponents down from landing continuous effective punches.
Joshua's like a total wall that is almost impossible to back up and keep away. I think that'll spell nightmare for Sasha.
Luis - Joshua wasn't that overwhelmingly awesome compared to Parker last night. I don't even think he deserved the win, unless maybe he shares it jointly with the ref. Parker weighs only a couple of pounds more than Povetkin. You don't think Parker is that much better than Povetkin do you?
What i think is: I respect your articulate opinions, but i hope to see quite a different outcome should the fight ever occur, which i doubt, because i don't think the US-UK boxing bosses want Russia to bust into their Joshua & Wilder Inc. exclusive rsvp private tea party..

I mean fundamentally to suggest that Parker should be declared winner because of a tetchy referee is completely absurd. Referees and judges happen, and it is just the nature of sport. We were all frustrated by the constant stop start nature of the fight, but it was a combination of them BOTH tying up on the inside and the referees intervention.
I think if the referee was going to allow the guys to have more time on the inside, it would have favoured Joshua, as the bigger stronger guy, who has an effective inside game. For example, when both fighters were tied up and lent over the ropes, Joshua was teeing off and having a lot of luck.
At the end of the day, you're the only person in the boxing world that is shouting robbery, which makes you sound like a crazy person. If you wish to test that, I suggest you make a poll and ask the boxing community what the general consensus is.
Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
My vote would be: Joshua won 9 rounds and Parker won 3.
The referee was abysmal and spoiled the fight for both boxers.

Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
Despite the fact that Parker caught AJ with a few long range glancing shots that made him think, I agree that his best chance would have been on the inside. I loved the way he smiled and winked after the few telling exchanges and the way he put his forearm under his chin to protect himself from AJ's fearsome uppercut.x2x wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 17:24jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 16:03 The fact is, on the few occasions they were allowed to fight on the inside, Joshua started uncorking the uppercut and left hook.
If you want to convince yourself Parker would have won if he'd been allowed to fight on the inside, fine, but there's no evidence to support the idea. Joshua isn't afraid of inside fighting.
The ref definitely spoilt the fight, and was utterly clueless, allowing Joshua to box with the tape flapping around from his glove, which is an obvious hazard to the other fighter.
Why they appointed this buffoon is a mystery.
No more a mystery than why they appointed Joe Cortez to ref the Mayweather-Hatton fight in honest Las Vegas. Both did what they were told to do by their bosses. I think both could have used some acting lessons so they could have been a bit more subtle, but, like i said before, they just don't care anymore. At least this italian ref didn't get his photo taken hugging and smiling broadly with Joshua after the fight, like Cortez did with Mayweather after that similar bit of work.
The fight was loaded against Parker but even if he was allowed to fight on the inside we don't know if he would have KO'd Joshua. All we do know is that it would have been a lot more exciting. As it was, it was a bit like Lewis v Tua all over again.
Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
There were times when the fight happened there. They were sparse, but they were there. Parker goes on to land some nice combinations to the body while AJ kept trying to same uppercut that never landed while holding Parker behind the damn head.jamesmcdonnell wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 05:30Given that they werent allowed to fight on the inside what are you talking about?Mexi-Box wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 20:04Parker took no major punishment when the fight was on the inside. Parker lost, and it wasn't close or controversial making this thread very stupid.
The referee did do a sh*t job I'll give the OP that, but he nullified offensive bursts from both Parker and Joshua. He basically just kept intervening every time a fight broke out. He sucked, and should never referee another bout.

This thread may be stupid , but yes there was controversy: the ref not letting Parker fight on the inside where he needed to fight, and also the contrived judge scores. Even a little thing like the flunky in the referee costume deferring to Joshua and letting him call his own time out for his damaged glove tape!gilgamesh wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 11:38 Parker lost, and it wasn't close or controversial making this thread very stupid.

OMG I totally forgot about that one! WTF was up with that..."oh...timeout!" How about calling timeout as you are going down so it doesn't count, like calling time in basketball when you're heading out of bounds. That ref really sucked moose cocks. He had more air time than Eddie Hearn.x2x wrote: ↑02 Apr 2018, 20:34This thread may be stupid , but yes there was controversy: the ref not letting Parker fight on the inside where he needed to fight, and also the contrived judge scores. The scorecards in Joshua's favor were wider than they should've been, and didn't acknowledge Parker's successes, but Joshua deservedly won the bout, and I don't think there was any way you could make a case that Parker deserved the decision.
Ultimately it's 2 or 3 rounds scored wrong, but the right guy still wins. Referee spoiled what could've been a better fight for the fans though.

Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
Keep in mind that Parker threw over 100 more punches than Joshua and according to compubox, landed slightly more power punches. The real person to blame is the terrible referee who wouldn't let them fight on the inside, as well as the corrupt judges who gave every close round to Joshua, as well as some that should have been scored to Parker too.boxing_rocks wrote: ↑01 Apr 2018, 15:22 Parker didn't win and didn't even put enough effort for that. It looked like he came to collect a check and not get KO'ed.
All that said, crap ref aside, Joshua did enough to win, just not by the margins the judges had it.
Re: Parker and Povetkin won last night
As Paulie was saying on commentary, the rounds were close, and considering hometown money etc. The close rounds were given in favor of AJ.
Given both are champs, I would have been satisfied with a draw. or at least a split decision. But Parker did not win. I would say he did enough to defend the belt arguably.
Povetkin looked decent I agree, but how much does he have left in the tank for a young Top 10 heavyweight?

If there was any integrity and honesty in boxing - which of course there isn't - the fraudulent Joshua decision would be overturned and Parker declared the winner...
...Boxing should be made to call themselves "Organized Crime Sports Exhibition" or something like that.
Anthony Joshua scored a comfortable victory and was equally hindered by the referee's actions, regardless of the official scorecards.
And whilst Povetkin did clearly beat Price and proved his world-class credentials once again, he unfortunately also proved that he has "lost" something...
The Russian has declined to the point that he should no longer be included amongst the top-four in the division, since he underperformed and momentarily struggled against a fighter considered a journeyman who had such a poor reputation, the bout was even regarded as a complete mismatch when it was announced.

Parker: Referee couldn’t speak English
By Ray Wheatley – World of Boxing
Referee Giuseppe Quartarone is taking criticism for the work he did as the third man in the ring before and during Saturday’s world heavyweight championship unification bout in which Anthony Joshua scored a decisive victory over Joseph Parker.
“When the ref came to the back, he couldn’t speak English,” Parker said. “Kev was trying to talk to him and ask him questions about how he was going to control the fight.”
Parker’s trainer Kevin Barry stated, “Obviously when one guy’s got a 76-inch reach and the other guy’s got 84-85, it’s very important to us when we do close the distance that we’re able to work. Unfortunately for us the referee just didn’t allow us to do that.
“I tried to speak to him when he came down the back and he had no idea or understanding of the question I asked him.
“I thought after six rounds it was our fight to win.”

And now you've made an equally bizarre claim about Joseph Parker being "robbed" against AJ.
You have also submitted many posts criticising the western world, when you made lots of sweeping derogatory statements, which would normally be deemed as racist and unacceptable behaviour in the real world, but the forum moderators don't seem to really care about that in this place.
