Joseph Parker Has Interest To Return on Joshua's Next Card

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Parker's promoter David Higgins said there was interest in placing his fighter on the undercard of Joshua's next event in the UK.

"We saw what a big deal the Povetkin-Price fight was as the main undercard fight to Parker-Joshua, and a Joshua show has a massive audience. It's about leaving ego out of it," Higgins told The New Zealand Herald.

"August would be about the right time in the UK. Joe has got respect and support in the UK now whereas previously his only market was in New Zealand. I spoke to Eddie Hearn yesterday and he said he would be more than happy to help out with opportunities. There are options. I will talk to [American co-promoter] Bob Arum too and there is always the option of fighting in New Zealand again."
***********************************************
Higgins also revealed that Joshua vs. Parker may have broken the pay-per-view record in New Zealand.
"There is confidentiality around it, but it will probably be No1 for revenue if not buys," Higgins said.

The David Tua v Shane Cameron fight in 2009 holds the pay per view record in New Zealand of more than 80,000 buys.

"Joe will get a well-deserved rest and I feel like I've gone 12 rounds myself so I'm going to lay low for a while," said Higgins. "I'll speak to Joe about what he wants to do. The early indications are that he wants to fight again sooner rather than later."

This is good. He wants to get back out quick. Obviously this fight has benefited him more than his fight with Hughie with the casuals as that fight was on YouTube PPV..

Parker has much more exposure now in the UK.. The fact that he wants to be on Joshua's next undercard says a lot.

As Higgins noticed and stated, the Povetkin-Price fight was 'a big deal'..

Who would you guys like to see him fight on a Joshua undercard? I'd think it would be a British boxer.

Who ever it would be Parker needs to keep his bar set high in opponent choice to stay in touch with the current crop of possibly world title contenders.

Saying that I doubt Parker will ever win another world title.

Presumably Povetkin will realise that 38 is too old to be boxing other contenders when he is in mandatory position and hold out for Joshua, leaving Whyte v Parker as chief support and Parker going after the WBC.

Good idea, I’d be more than happy to see Parker back here again (assuming it’s not a rematch with Hughie).

I'm guessing they will target price or chisora, although they may fancy Whyte rankings. But whyte Parker would maybe be a headline of its own with a stacked card at the 02

Probably Chisora, but he doesn't seem all that interested in fighting big names these days so he'll probably end up with Dave Allen

It won't happen, but I wouldn't mind if Parker signed with Eddie.

I'd be more than happy to see Parker fight in the UK as long as he's in with decent names and the styles are good. We've seen with Parker-Hughie and Whyte-Helenius that HW fights can quickly become tedious if one guy doesn't fancy a fight.

Povetkin and Whyte are probably happy to wait for their title shots. Pulev probably too tough for a comeback fight.

Chisora or Price if they want a Brit. Hammer or Duhaupas would be acceptable. If he's on a Matchroom US show then possibly Breazeale, Jennings or Washington.

They'll probably look for a semi-recognisable name who's shot to shite though.

He needs to be in with someone he can knock out as he hasn't done that for a few fights now but also someone with credibility. Not an easy match to make and needs careful consideration.

Will you guys stop mentioning Chisora and Parker please.
Parker is a step above Del Boy and way to fast.
A one sided beat down does not do any good for anyone.
The best opponent for Parker is a fast fighter who is willing to engage. Kownacki comes to mind.

Holy shit this gave me a thought.

Helenius vs Hughie :KO:

Fight that would be even worse than Wlad vs Fury. It could make Wlad vs Haye look like impressive high action fight

If they're looking to build him in the UK then a Brit with a name like Chisora who brings relatively little threat is a realistic option. Makes sense that people are talking about it. Much more difficult to get an undefeated American based HW like Kownacki over here.

It is good. Parker will end up the bigger winner from the Joshua fight. The distinction of having been the first to go the distance. Should really give him confidence. And with the ref's interference, the defeat may not be damaging at all. He's young and tough.

It sounds weird but I'm sure Parker vs Price would be a fight that would attract a lot of attention. Price wobbling Povetkin might have bought him one more shot. All I can say is people would like the fight and be excited for it.

Joshua isn't going to be an 80,000 seat seller in future if he comes up with performances like the last 2. He has had two pretty boring fights now in front of 80,000 people. I know people on here think he is the second coming but he won't be selling 80,000 tickets if he has boring fights like this regularly.

Wilder is going to catch him and lights out.

Still loads of money for him to make,Rematch Wilder or go for Fury.

He has already made it,sorted for life.

Has Parker really got that sort of British following or is he kidding himself.?The crowd were there to see AJ kick his ass, the fact that it wasn't a great performance with both men looking not to lose rather than fighting to win hardly endears him to the British market either for future appearances.

Can't see a rematch with AJ any time soon so why would Hearn want Parker on the undercard of an AJ fight unless its hoping he'd lose to Whyte? But surely he & Povetkin are looking for a title fight next so can't really se where Parker would fit.

Parker should have a comeback fight vs Browne in Australia or New Zealand.
