Gene Tunney vs Jack Johnson

Post by DrDuke »

Both in Prime conditions, in which they had been during their title reigns.

Who would you pick and why?

Both extremely skillful master boxers.... Two of the greatest ever.

But Johnson was too big and strong for Tunney.... There's no way Tunney would agree to fight him.

Why he fought and beat Dempsey ,why would he not fight Johnson.

I think Tunney has become the vastly underrated of late I'd pick over Johnson

I pick Tunney. He is extremely skillful for Johnson. And Johnson never had such an opponent actually. Tunney would have outboxed him wide.

I just can't see Johnson beating a polished boxer puncher such as Tunney. Tunney was exceptionally skilled fighter. Lost only once and beat Grebb something like 4 times.

They were both extremely polished boxers... Johnson was a lot bigger and stronger.

It's Archie Moore vs Sugar Ray Robinson.... Robinson fought Maxim who wasn't so skilled -- but refused Moore... Smart!

It's Jimmy Ellis vs Muhammad Ali.... Ellis won some early rounds -- then he got wasted.

It's Floyd Mayweather vs Gennady Golovkin.... Floyd didn't want it.

Manny Pacquiao vs Canelo Alvarez... Pac didn't want it.

Patterson vs Liston.... Are you kidding me Floyd?

Usyk vs Joshua... Believe me he won't try it.

Match ups that happened or not, between 2 skillful boxers... However the bigger man had a decided advantage.

Actually, I thought everyone would catch on immediately.

2nd line should read "but refused Moore" .... that can cause confusion.

I thought that but didn't assume. It wasn't your usual detailed explanation.
