when do callouts count

Post by jamamb »

ive seen stuff like:

'solid fighter x says hell step in for canelo, so ggg has no excuse for a weak opponent'

or

'aj/wilder say they want it next, so its now on the other to make it happen!'

but its literally one of the easiest things to say you want such and such fight, even if your just full of bs, will be difficult in negotiations, know there are major logistical barriers etc

so when do callouts actually mean something?

Very good question.
I think most fighters would love to face the best each time out. But it's unrealistic due to political barriers.
The GGG scenario is just a logistics nightmare for all concerned. Too short a notice and it will be limited money with hardly any promotion

Boxers actually mean it when they call out an opponent.

But they're professionals and the money has to be acceptable. That's the top priority.

It's not a barroom challenge. It's prizefighting.
