But this is no fault of team GGG.
He can't help his opponent is a drug cheat
The Canelo situation and ONLY the Canelo situation is not his fault.
Since this mess started there have been a few boxers who represent a real challenge volunteering to take the fight on short notice only to have GGG pass on them while looking for the weakest opponent HBO will approve.

I don't blame his team for waiting until it was officially cancelled before looking for a replacement.
We still do not know who he will fight for sure.
Why not wait to see who it is before getting upset over it

You don't know how much those volunteers asked to get their asses kicked. Some of them could also just be looking for publicity. For example, how can you trust somebody like Andrade who pulls out of fights, already passed on a MW title once, fights once a year, to take a dangerous fight at a one month notice?

I read Zurdo is ready. I'd love to see that fight. By the way, Derevyanchenko would be the best fight in the MW division currently.

Golovkin's camp does not want Derevyanchenko on short notice. There's no chance that he'll be the fill-in.

Andrade was given consideration but HBO was dissatisfied with his performance against Fox last October. The feeling is that he's dull and will turn in a stinker.

Saunders says that he won't fight Golovkin on three weeks notice. He insists he's too big a star to be a late replacement.

And Ramirez naturally insists on 168. Golovkin won't fight at that weight.

That leaves only O'Sullivan, who has failed at the world class level. It's a fight that would be a big hit in Ireland, but in Las Vegas, it will bomb.

What reason did Canelo's team give for pulling out?

GB doesn't believe that the matter can be resolved by the April 18 hearing and that there won't be enough time to properly promote the fight.

To be accurate, Canelo didn't technically withdraw personally. GBP honchos (De La Hoya and Gomez) decided to cancel since they're footing the bill.

So now the Drug Policing industry screwed up yet another huge fight. Boxing's phony "war on drugs" isn't as phony as the big phony "war on drugs" but it's still phony enough to be wrecking the little that's left of boxing. The whole business is totally inequitous. Just freaking legalize drugs! But of course that will cut into the profits of the politicians and the narco gangs and big pharma, and the "war on drugs" industry too.

Canelo should have to pay GGG for his lose of earnings as he's failed a drugs test and pulled out most likely to avoid a ban

Sadly time is no friend of GGG. If Canelo can delay just one more year, he might actually get a draw on merit :D

That could happen if GGG files a lawsuit and wins.

..that's actually a valid point..I wonder if they do have a clause in the contract penalising the party that failed the drug test which resulted in cancelling a potentially profitable event...

The sad thing is canelo would probably invent an injury why he's pulled out and get round it that way

Fighting Spike without even a decent training camp. What is the point? Fvck the date, just have a decent fight with Jacobs or Saunders

This is how a really great fighter like GGG gets upset by someone like a Spike. They don't do the research they should on the fighter and just try to keep the show on and that's when someone comes out of nowhere and humbles them all. I don't like it at all, GGG. Take your time. Fight in June instead. Who cares about a month?

It’s really academic. GGG clearly beat Canelo in their first fight.

I just hope Blow Job Saunders is man enough to get into the ring with GGG.

He already said that he will only be ready in September.

Most marquees fights are more profitable in September than they are in May.

Canelo is doing everyone a favor by delaying the fight for 4 months. It's more lucrative for everyone, including Nevada.
