A worthy cause and it was a pleasure to sit and chat with Danny yesterday.

Jesus, I didn't know about Danny's illness.

I always assumed he left Birmingham for the lower leagues.

Remember him fondly, probably was a tad fortunate to get into the England team IMO - but a good striker nevertheless and he had the rare combination of decent strength and speed.

I remember him well, real skilful player. It must have been devastated when told he couldn't play again.

He admitted he turned to drink once it first sank in, but seems to have come to terms with it, it was a real pleasure to talk to him, I'll probably do a bit of the walk on Wednesday along with Frank and some of the other boxers.

Hope you do an article with pictures of the walk, and wish them my best.

Sad thing is, is that while Michael Watson walk was a milestone - it was a sign of massive GAINS he has made in his health and wellbeing. Danny's condition will not improve.
