O’Sullivan: " I’ve said yes to fighting GGG" WTF? Please not this opponent for GGG!

Post by apollo creed »

O’Sullivan wrote on Twitter. “After that it goes to the people who negotiate the deals to make fights possible. I’ve said yes to fighting GGG, I’ve been training nonstop since my last fight and now I’m waiting to see if it can be agreed, just like you. I trust my team to do what’s right for me, one way or the other."

How could this fight be headed in Vegas ? :verysad:

When you only have 3 weeks to promote and put on a fight, you take what's available.

O'Sullivan was training for the undercard and he's a Golden Boy fighter. So it's a no brainer.

Everyone else whose name was mentioned as a potential replacement opponent has been eliminated for one reason or another.

O'Sullivan is probably the worst of the lot but he'll come cheaper than the others, so he's pretty attractive as late fill-in.

The only other option is to cancel the entire card.

Derevyanchenko or Andrade ?
I posted elsewhere that Golovkin said he wasn't interested in fighting Derevyanchenko on 3 weeks notice.

And while Andrade has been considered, reportedly HBO was dissatisfied with his performance last year against Fox and fear he'll turn in a dull showing.

And as I said, O'Sullivan is easily available, being originally scheduled for the undercard, and is a Golden Boy fighter.

Spike is a "come at you" fighter.

No real movement. The kind that Golovkin can devour and look like the pre-Brook version.

If true, and they line up Sullivan, this would suck. Andrade is a much better choice, but apparently GGG doesn't want to fight him. It's not that Andrade will make it a dull performance, that is total BS. I won't bother watching it, since it is a given who will win.

Since both Andrade and Derev are both ready to fight, why not put them on the undercard? Wishful thinking.

What a fall from expectations. At least they are offering (or so I'm told) refunds for ticket holders.

Khurt stopped Antoine Douglas and got a shot at WBO belt. Nobody was whining. O'Sullivan stopped Antoine Douglas and possibly gets a shot at Golovkin's belts AT A SHORT NOTICE, and there are a lot of whiners. Why?

Well it's a bit of comedown going quickly from Canelo-Golovkin to Spike-Golovkin.

Did you really need to be told that?

HBO declined Andrade's option for two additional fights after Boo Boo's dreary performance against Fox.

They seriously loath Andrade.

Well, that is a fault of your beloved Canelo. Neither Golovkin, nor anybody else can be blamed for that.

Certainly Canelo deserves all the blame for failing the drugs test, but while GGG can fight who he likes, he's running out of time, and really should be focusing on fighting the best, on unifying etc. if he wants to build a good legacy.

O'Sullivan scares the heck out of me as a GGG fan. I don't want nothing to do with this guy. I saw his last fight and this kid is no joke. I hate these substitution situations like this where the champion doesn't really have time to prepare for another fighter appropriately and the contender doesn't have time to realize the enormity of the fight. O'Sullivan seems like he loves to ruin the favorite's night with the way he walked through Douglas recently.

I think that O'Sullivan is not the same fighter that lost to Eubank Jr and BJS. I think that this kid could give GGG a huge problem if chosen as the substitute.

that makes you dumb, cos he sucks, mate.

he's like Lemiuex without the finesse or ring IQ, FFS. or the power :witzend:

dude, Chris fucken Eubank looked like an Olympic gold medalist fighting this fucken idiot.

grow a pair and stop jumping at shadows on behalf of GGG. he'd be offended, and rightly so.

i mean, Reggie Johnson would win every single round off Spike. 36 rounds if they fought 3 times. FFS. this guy is brutally sh1t.

Ah, you're one of those people that doesn't figure in the fact that boxers could actually improve over time after some early losses. 2.5 years in boxing years is a lot of time and I don't care what you saw years ago, I guarantee this will be a difficult fight for GGG. Now i hope it happens so you could look more foolish.

jesus, kid. you 'guarantee' that a dude same style as Lemieux, only not as good/ even more sh1t, gives GGG a difficult fight? you're too invested in this bro, emotion is running amok, you need to step back, take a deep breath, and rationalise.

If he pretends Spike is a dangerous opponent, he can pretend it's an amazing legacy building win when GGG shuts out and KOs him.

Of all the names that have been bandied about as a replacement opponent, Spike O'Sullivan is clearly the weakest of the lot.

allegedly is pleading with Golovkin to cancel any plans for Cinco de Mayo and instead head to London for a a June fight with Saunders.

Warren says he's making a "huge offer to come to a football ground in London" for a bout in early to mid June.

What I don't quite understand is Warren claiming that Saunder's broken hand won't be healed until June and then he's good to go.

If it won't be healed until June, exactly when is Saunders supposed to train?

A legit offer or just some traditional promotional poo?
