state of boxing

Post by man »

i think this is a quite interesting time.
interesting things in many divisions.
heavies are again something you can
watch and be excited about, since all
major fights have been interesting in
their own way in recent years.

great talent in many weight classes.
and a possible p4p ATG in the making
with loma. exciting things around middle
where p4p top guys meet.

sidenote:
as much as i usually love the rankings
here on boxrec done by the system, as
of recent i find some lists odd, especially
the p4p top ten. seems to me single wins
are overweighted by the method.

It's a great time to be a fan.
Lomenchenko, Crawford, GGG, Canelo, Usyk,
Spence, Joshua and Wilder. Love them all and can't wait to see many more of their fights.

Absolutely agree. Lots of great prospects, matchups & rivalries on the horizon.

There's been an unprecedented flood of new pros from the 2016 Olympics (including 17 medalists so far), with record numbers from the former Soviet republics (including 7 medalists):

Uzbekistan: Akmadaliev, Gaibnazarov, Giyasov and Tulaganov (ALL Medalists at Rio Games)
Kazakhstan: Dychko, Alimkhanuly and (debuting 4/28) 152-pound Gold Medalist Daniyar Yeleussinov
Russia: Aloyan, Chebotarev and Khamukov
Ukraine: Mytrofanov and Matviichuk
Lithuania: Petrauskas and Stanionis
Azerbaijan: Husanov
Armenia: Abgaryan and Avagyan
'

For more details for many of the new pros see separate thread: http://boxrec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=219753

I like all the fighters you mentioned here except of Canelo, but a lot of his fights are exciting too

i came to appreciate canelo more. what
i hated very much was his invention of a
new weight class for himself to avoid trouble.

but he is a solid fighter and i appreciate that.
