Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter For WBC Interim-Title?
Re: Danny Garcia vs. Shawn Porter For WBC Interim-Title?
It's a shame that Porter has such an ugly style to watch because he comes across as a likeable guy who is willing to fight good competition. Like every other Haymon fighter though he needs to be more active. Jumping in the ring after Garcia's last fight was a bit daft as well.

I don't know that. It's pretty much a pick 'em fight.
Porter might pressure Garcia and get the nod by his work rate.
Garcia's is the better boxer and possibly puncher too, and simply pile up points at take the decision.
I don't see either fighter as a sure thing.

You rank Thurman #5?Lackeos wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 14:45 Both of these guys proved to be merely a hair worse than Thurman. Between them, they have a laundry list of scalps with name value like Peterson, Matthysse, Broner, Khan, Alexander, Berto, Judah, Granados, Malignaggi x2, Holt, Campbell, Guerrero, Rios, etc. So I think this fight is pretty good. My only concern is that we basically know exactly how good these guys are, and even if one of them beats the other, that doesn't mean that they're not damned close to one another. I consider Garcia and Porter to be #3 and #4, after Spence and Pacquiao. I think I would probably rate the winner of this fight #3, still behind Pacquiao.
I think Manny's about done at this point. Will be interesting to see his form against Lucas. Age and inactivity doesn't bode well for styles like his.

Thurman was scheduled to make a voluntary defense in a Showtime televised bout on May 19 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York - but it's been revealed that he's unable to go forward due to a hand injury.
He has two mandatory challengers waiting for him - Garcia (34-1, 20 KOs) and Shawn Porter (28-2-1, 17 KOs).
Porter became the mandatory challenger last year, after stopped former champion Andre Berto.
And Garcia became the secondary mandatory back in February, after knocking out Brandon Rios in a final eliminator.
The only solution, says Sulaiman, is to order a fight between Garcia and Porter for the WBC's interim-world title at 147.
"Unfortunately [Thurman] has been injured again. He can not continue as a champion, he has not defended the title for more than a year, we had been consistent with him after the injury he had but with this new injury it is very possible that the fight is ordered for the interim title between Porter and García, who are the two mandatory challengers," Sulaiman said to ESPN Deportes.

I have Thurman as inactive, and his permanent weight division possibly also uncertain. If he wants to be ranked as a top 2 welterweight, he should try fighting at welterweight once in a while.Impractical Poster wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 20:23You rank Thurman #5?Lackeos wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 14:45 Both of these guys proved to be merely a hair worse than Thurman. I'm glad this fight is ultimately being made now given Keith Thurman absence from the sport. Important as it will eliminate the number of fights Thurman will have to make before a potential unification with Spence Jr. Ultimately both fighters are at a similar skill set level so it is an intriguing match up. Let's just hope for the sake of Boxing, Keith Thurman get's back in the ring, his absence from the sport is degrading his reputation with every day that passes, I would like to see the WBA follow suit in creating an interim fight but then again with the amount of belt's the WBA have, maybe another is not a good idea at all.

In that case, how would you rank Manny #2?His last win was a ud in 2016. Not to mention his lack luster performance last year.Lackeos wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 21:31I have Thurman as inactive, and his permanent weight division possibly also uncertain. The original thread posted by EO was about Garcia and Porter fighting for the Interim belt.. the article I posted was from yesterday and states the WBC may well just order the fight for the Interim belt.. didn't think it needed a new thread..Badhusker wrote: ↑05 Apr 2018, 21:21WTF?!
