Griffith was too skilled defensively and had more control... Robinson got hit a lot and ran a lot.. Robinson would flurry with really big shots like Dick Tiger often did and leave himself wide open.. Griffith beat Tiger twice... Robinson got decked with big swings from Artie Levine, Rocky Castellano, Rocky Graziano, Jake LaMotta, and Tommy Bell...
Griffith got caught with murderous swings by Hurricane Carter so he didn't have an air tight defense.. But Tiger never caught him with a real good shot and Carter wasn't as crude as some of the swingers who caught Robinson.
Tiger fought Gene Fullmer 3 times and backed him up every fight... He stopped him in their last fight so he was better than Fullmer... Fullmer beat Robinson 2 to 1 with one draw... That's not conclusive, but it gives you an indication how Griffith deals with a free swinger like Tiger.. He did well with them... Robinson never beat a boxer with Griffith's skills in his life.
Griffith also beat Joey Archer twice... Archer was a better pure boxer than Robinson, and I'm not going by their fight.
