degale and truax are about as good as each other at this stage

ppl need to remember that truax was like a c+ level guy his whole career, so thats not good for degale

He started well.. The cut in round 3 was bad for him, it got him on the backfoot.. He performed much better than December and wasn't hanging against the ropes. Truax on the other hand just didn't try as harder to win..
The Groves fight would be interesting, as Groves wouldn’t put DeGale under the sort of pressure that makes him so uncomfortable.

though groves has thrown around 1000 punches multiple times

imo truax being so competitive again, showing its no big fluke, is bad . degales almost done

truax was c+ level really, i really dont think hes better then he showed in being outclassed and stopped by jacobs or dirrell, or in scraping to a draw with ossie duran

i think a guy like caleb plant would have less problems with truax then degale did

I guess his win was a blip.. DeGale was his usual self last night.. Another tough fight. he can't keep having tough fights.. He really did underestimate Truax.. Truax accepted defeat and said he couldn't land as he wanted. When asked why he couldn't, he said he didn't know.. DeGale's movement was key and he wasn't fighting on the ropes as usual.

it was like a 1 point fight, it was still highly competitive and truax won the first more convingly then degale won this, between the 2 fights theyvs basically been the same level as each other

I scored it 114-113 DeGale.. Without the point deduction it would have been 115-113 to DeGale.

116-111 Hurd on my card, really good fight, best that Lara's been involved in for a while and while he had some lazy spells he showed urgency down the stretch. he had a great 1st round, landed some quality jabs and straight lefts through the guard of Hurd but after that Hurd took over and walked Lara down, he wasn't putting much on his punches early on but Lara was struggling with the sheer pressure and volume and he was bullied up close

I couldnt believe the size of Hurd he's massive, fvck knows how he makes SWW, he got to work a lot earlier than ive seen him, I thought Lara would've built up more of a lead but Hurd got to work straight after the 1st, Lara doesn't have the legs to move anymore and had fight to keep Hurd off him, Lara to his credit had a good surge late on but the KD in the last just cemented the win for Hurd IMO, lovely knockdown, right uppercut/left hook, textbook and a combination Ali used to love

Deserved win for Hurd IMO, best ive seen him and I was surprised the decision was split or even close

Hes a handful isnt he. I really dont see too many in the history of the 154 division beating him. Hes in his prime right now. His chin looks granite solid and he is just relentless and huge for the weight. You need a massive puncher like julian jackson or hearns that will make him think twice (to put it mildly) about relentlessly coming forward because not many would be able to take that kind of pressure. Once hurds chin gets cracked his career is over for me but right now in his prime I think he is probably the fighter that youd least want to face. He was on laras ass all night and we know how slick lara is. What a performance. I know liam smith is game as a badger but I give him zero chance with hurd.

Not seen the fight yet, but should DeGale do the honourable thing and get the rubber with Traux or did he show superiority beyond a 3rd fight?

Incidently, where does Traux rank in terms of shortest reigning champions - not counting those who were stripped for Drugs / Mandatories. Cannot think of too many shorter reigns - obviously Randolph Turpin.

the rematch was still very close and degale didnt win as convingly as truax won there first fight . in other sports when teams or ppl split matches like that 1-1 youd never settle for anything other then a rematch and you wouldnt act like one guy clearlys superior to the other just because he won the last match

but tbh its not really something id want to see again, id prefer them in with different ppl, maybe degale can fight the interim ibf champ uzcategui and truax can fight someone like benavidez or caleb plant

degale will do very well to beat any world class fighter again, i think hes gonna lose again soon

DeGale can't afford to do the honourable thing. He needs a big cash out fight asap. He's risking his health going life and death in every fight. He hasn't got a whole lot left.

Barry Jones summed up the Lara Hurd fight best - "Lara did well considering he was fighting a cruiserweight".

If your in charge of DeGale you will fight tooth and nail to get out of his mandatory Uzcategui (Think he busts JDG up).
All about the cash out fight against the Groves-Smith winner. (Hopefully Groves as better financially for JDG).

Hate to be harsh but DeGale is shot to pieces. He’s getting hurt in every fight now. Also I’m not convinced his shoulder is healed. He can’t keep people off him now.

Hurd-Lara was a great fight. Lara showed all his class despite his advanced years.
Hurd is feckin huge. How he fights at LM. Has heart and looks to be heavy handed with every shot.
I’d like a rematch. A Lara in his pomp would figure him out and time him. Think he might be slightly on the slide- understandable when you think of the longevity of his career amateur/pro.
