Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
Uzcategui is mandatory apparently and I think that a tough fight for DeGale also.
Losing a unification fight to Benavidez wouldn't look or sound half as bad as losing to his mandatory.
DeGale is coming to the end of the road imo...

Yeh, Uzcategui holds the Interim belt.. DeGale has struggled to beat voluntaries.. How does he beat a mandatory?wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 08:11Uzcategui is mandatory apparently and I think that a tough fight for DeGale also.

Wes - why can’t you wait until a fight is announced before you create a poll?
It seems as soon as Michael Benson tweets a quote from a fighter discussing another fighter you fee the need to create a poll. Given the amount of Brits around supper middle (Eubank Jr, Groves, Smith) it’s extremely unlikely he fights Benevidez next.

Smith is fighting Groves.maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 08:21Given the amount of Brits around supper middle (Eubank Jr, Groves, Smith) it’s extremely unlikely he fights Benevidez next.
Eubank Jr isn't ranked.
Uzcategui is mandatory.
Benavidez (WBC) or Ramirez (WBO) are potential unification fights.
DeGale doesn't have as many options as you think.
You didn't let us all know how you think the fight will go...

I doubt he ever fights Benavidez..maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 08:21Wes - why can’t you wait until a fight is announced before you create a poll?

Eubank is ranked at the moment but since when has that stopped fights from happening?!wesshaw1985 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 08:25Smith is fighting Groves.maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 08:21Given the amount of Brits around supper middle (Eubank Jr, Groves, Smith) it’s extremely unlikely he fights Benevidez next.

Degale has several options, and many more likely than fighting Benevidez.
When the fight gets announced I’ll give an opinion on how it goes. It’s fairly pointless to me, and others on the forum, talking about it just because Benson tweeted a Benevidez quote.

uzcategui would beat james too

Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
Doubt it will happen, Degale is at the tail end of his career and will be looking to make big money in the fights he has left.
Eubank or Groves/Smith winner would pay alot more.
Considering how much Degale has regressed since the Dirrell fight, I doubt it is worth Degale even taking a keep busy fight while waiting as he could well lose and/or pick up an injury.

Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
I'd fancy Uzcategui to stop Degale.
I like Uzcategui though so I wouldn't mind that too much.
Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
Degale has been mentioning Groves in post fight interviews (sorry Wes) and his desire to have a crack at St George if he gets past Callum.
It stinks of a final payday to me.
Even if Grove's right shoulder isn't quite right, I see him pulverising DeGale.
DeGale "squeaks" past Truax after losing to him once, does he think that measures up to facing Groves??
Benavidez is probably more his level, even though I think the styles clash.

Wes, I am going to hunt you down like Curtis Woodhouse if you make another stupid ass poll

If you didn't complain about the "Who's Watching?" poll don't come in here complaining about my polls.
Besides, it's a champion vs. champion poll. These fights should be encouraged not talked down.
And i'm interested to find out who you all think would win if the fight did get made

Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
I've got no problem with topics for fights that have been announced or look close, but a generic post-fight quote from a fighter is hardly worthy of a topic imo. If there has to be a new topic just make a 'What next for James DeGale?' one. Makes for more open discussion than one about a specific fight that might not even happen.maverick23 wrote: ↑08 Apr 2018, 08:21Wes - why can’t you wait until a fight is announced before you create a poll?

Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
This forum would be dead if we waited for confirmed fights all the time.
I have 2 minor gripes with West at times,.
1: Benson is a filthy little man who deserves no press or advertisement for what is essentially theft of others information or resources without providing original source material.
2)title changes to topics.
Benavidez, Uzcategui, Groves, Smith, Ramirez all beat James now. He has landed less than a jab a round average against Truax after 24 Rds, I can't believe he is anywhere near 100%.

Re: James DeGale vs. David Benavidez
It'd be nice if you'd wait until the fighters are at the very least IN TALKS to make a poll not just because you thought about the matchup, and tossed it out there.
If you're gonna do what-if threads throw every possible matchup in there that way you don't have to make 20 threads.
And finally...to answer the question. Benavidez would beat the sh*t out of Degale.

Plus the title of the thread is misleading - makes you thinnk fight is on or at least in talks.

I think the annoying pr*ck should be banned!! Single handily ruins a good site I've visited for years.. perhaps we should have a vote on what he can & can't do....

The only time Wes likes to be told what he can and can't do is by a middle aged ex hooker in a rubber suit @ $150 an hour.
