In my suburb of Los Angeles? Next to nobody, but there is a Filipino family on my street so they may recognize Pacquiao. Nobody ever discusses boxing around here.

In Los Angeles I imagine Canelo has a good degree of recognition, especially with the red hair. But I don't think there's any other active fighter that the average Los Angeleno would recognize on sight.

And even Canelo would probably only be a familiar face to Latinos here. The average white, black or Asian has no clue who he is.

Unfortunately boxing is not a subject that's on too many people's "must see" list.

Not to make things difficult, but how recognised do they have to be to be "recognised"? Being mobbed like in that picture of Parker upthread might only happen to Joshua and possibly not even then. But on the other hand, even Nicola Adams would likely get asked for a few selfies, depending on for how long she sticks around anyway. So, what's the cut off point?

They don't meet the criteria.

Neither is an active fighter.

I live in Nottinghamshire, UK.

Out of the current ACTIVE fighters I would say that casual British boxing fans would recognise

For sure

1. Anthony Joshua
2. David Haye (was very overrated here years ago and was billed as the best)
3. Tyson fury

Other boxers are not a garuantee it depends on what boxing the casuals have watched. In the MAYBE category

1. Tony Bellew
2. Deontay Wilder
3. Joseph Parker
4. Billy Joe Saunders
5. Dillian Whyte

The fact that I only list two active foreign fighters on the list shows, in my opinion how bad the state of boxing in the United States has become, although I see some signs of getting better. And also shows how far the British boxing scene has taken over.

Anyone that says Alexander Povetkin really do baffle me, how can he be a recognised face? He may be mistaken for Clair balding! (A British sports presenter for American readers)

Tomasz Adamek, maybe Krzysztof Włodarczyk and Artur Szpilka too, Glowacki rather only by hardcore fans, not sure about Joshua yet, but now public TV in Poland shows boxing, and does it very well, on free channels, also for free online in nice quality, Joshua-Parker watched online 250000 people, on tv probably 4 or 5x more, so Joshua is probably quite popular now

Usyk is pretty popular too i guess but it is a pity that WBSS was not featured here

Klitschkos are not active but they would be recognized, of course still Tyson and Golota would be, Michalczewski rather too

Pacquiao would be more recognized than Mayweather i think

Canelo and Wilder would be rather unknown (well, maybe Wilder would be known as ''the guy who koed Szpilka'')

im not sure about Tyson Fury

Anthony Joshua definitely.

I would say Tyson Fury as he lives in Wilmslow, which is stones throw from where I live, but he isn't an active boxer.

I can't think of any others.

Most of your big names would be recognised by a few but not many. AJ would likely be mobbed but I doubt even top Scottish fighters like Taylor or Burns would even be recognised. Possibly Khan, Haye...... They'd be doing well to keep away from our town! It's just junkies, muggers, pubs, bookies, takeaways and poundshops!

I forgot Fury. He'd be recognised most places in the UK surely? You could hardly miss him! Plus he's been in the papers a lot for his controversial comments etc....

Khan and AJ for sure. Probably Eubank Jr and Groves - that was a big fight and the Froch fights were massive.
We have four pubs in the village and two of them shoe boxing, they're always rammed when it's on, too.
With the proximity to Sheffield, I'd say that Kell Brook would be on the list too.
