It will come down to how much AJ is willing to sacrifice to get the 4/5/6 (not sure how many there are now) belts.

It isn't a question of opinion.
How many were at Wilders last 3 fights in the USA?
How many were at Parkers last 3 fights in the South Pacific?
How big were Wilders TV audiences?
How big were Parkers TV audiences?

Well put it another way. A Wilder v Joshua fight would at least double the PPV figures than the fight against Parker.

Forget records its what the public want that matters.

Parker clearly has a bigger following, the numbers don't lie.

You imagine double the number of people are going to pay to see Joshua v Wilder than Joshua v Parker? Noooooo everyone interested already clicked buy.

If Eddie can work his magic in the US it could do well. But he'd basically be working to push Wilder's stock...for just one, possibly two, fights.

It's pretty clear that guys like Haymon and White want to get their hooks in AJ. I guess the offer might be. Sign a deal with me and I'll deliver the head of Wilder.

This argument is like a fourth grader arguing about his favorite sports personality. I could care less how much they make. It doesn't mean who beats who, just who is greedier. The fight needs to happen. Both fighters know it. Once that happens, we can debate the winner. Purse size doesn't dictate who is better than who. Geez.

This is an interesting point.
My perception is that the ‘magic’ is being the one with the Sky TV deal. The majority of the Matchroom shows I’ve been to haven’t been sell outs, usually large sections of the arena are curtained off.
Wilder has a huge TV exposure with Showtime so it will be interesting to see if Matchroom can generate value over there without being the only show in town.

Because its got potential to be a much bigger fight/event. If I was offered tickets for either an AJ v Wilder or AJ v Parker fight. It would be the Wilder fight all day long.

Parker was never seen as a real threat to AJ.

Do you really think the public know who Wilder is?

Obviously the boxing fans want Wilder next, but that's not the audience Hearn is after. He's got us already, he's after the casuals who are paying to watch AJ win, his opponent is largely irrelevant. Put ANYONE in there & Hearn & Sky Sports could generate enough hype & interest to draw large crowds & PPV buys.

The question has to be, how much extra money does Wilder bring it the table?

Joshua's past two unifications have made about £25-30m or so. Considering neither Joshua or Wilder have been on PPV in the US previously and neither have exactly set the world alight with viewing figures, it's not unreasonable to suggest that the income from US PPV is going to be limited. There's also going to be a limited increase in UK PPV (for the reasons moogie gives above) and the ticket revenue isn't going to be that much greater than the Klitschko fight.

I think £40m/$55m is achievable, so that $12.5m isn't really that far off a 75/25 split. Quite fair for a guaranteed cash sum and after all, it's cash that pays the bills not percentages.

coneye wrote: 11 Apr 2018, 07:16 We can all only guess and assume what the figures are , but if Parker got approx 7 million and 33% which is the figures i've read , basic maths says the fight was worth approx 21-22 million , now Haern says the Wilder fight is worth more , lets say 60 mill , say what you want theres more interest in Wilder than Parker , so lets say 60 mill offering Wilder say 8.5-9 mill is only around 12%.

So Hearns is trying to say Wilder is worth around 20% LESS than Parker ,,, Blatant DUCK ,, OK we all can see its Wilders biggest pay day , but its also going to generate more for Mr Humble
How can you go from an opening line of we can only guess and assume the figures, to towards the end claiming this is a "blatant duck" unless you're being deliberately ironic and it's gone over my head?!

This offer is the start of negotiations which seems to be an offer from hearn/Joshua, I've heard of no offer coming from wilder and team funny way to duck by making the first concrete offer I'd have thought.

Joshua has every right to demand the large majority of the generated income, as it is he who is the considerably bigger draw. We have seen the same situation play out for years with American stars.

Any value Wilder brings to the table will come from American interest. If the fight is shown via ppv stateside, a common sense approach would be to base Wilders purse on a flat fee plus a percentage of American ppv sales.

If they were all smart, they'd offer wilder a fixed % of the bid PLUS a % of the AMERICAN PPV. That makes Wilder need to promote the fight in the U.S. which also gives AJ more exposure here.

But Joshua is selling out an 80k stadium fighting Pulev/Takam and Parker and everyone involved is earning massive money. It doesn't matter what you think is the bigger fight - albeit you're right to say it's Wilder. Joshua is still selling against boxers who are essentially unknown in the UK. Wilder isn't selling point blank in any meaningful way.

Question: How much are ringside seats typically for an AJ fight, and what is the average Ticket Price? Thanks.

Never pay full price for AJ unless it’s Wlad/Wilder. Loads of wannabe touts selling for £20-30 on gumtree.

Of course the other thing that must be considered, is that Joshua wants Wilders belt, which renders how much revenue Wilder generates irrelevant.
What matters is how much are Joshua and Matchroom willing to pay.

Joshua undoubtedly wants the belt, but I don't think it's quite that simple, albeit your comment is very fair.

The revenue Joshua generates forms part of the basis for the offer, hence what matters can also be deemed as what Wilder is willing to accept.
