Another cruiserweight tournament

Post by Boxing101101 »

The cruiserweight wbss tournament has been great and we have a great final to look forward to. if usyk wins and moves up to the heavyweight division the 4 belts would be vacated and no longer around the waist of one man. so why not have another tournament. the division has lots of good fighters and you could easily have a tournament with 4 or 5 different fighters.

so you would have the runner up and the 2 losing semi finalists you could also have the ibo champ lerena. the next to spots could go to former champs lebedev and bellew and the other 2 spots could go to fighters taking a step up like tabiti and goulamirian. you also have other options like vlasov and glowacki.

its probably not going to happen but if it was to it would be another great tournament with great fights to look forward to

I totally agree. Another tourney and a new champ. SH%t all of them deserve it. What a great division.

Yes, it's a very good idea, considering the talk about both Usyk and Gassiev moving up. But there is a question, who will organize such stuff again.

that's the problem. the wbss are going for ligter weights this year so unless they want to run tournaments at once they wont do it. plus with all the belts being vacant it would be much harder to organise this time around.

I think it rehashes too many of the same matches, has an overly foreseeable outcome, and replaces the best competitors with terrible replacements. Plus, there would be a lot of vacant belts at stake, rather than inviting established champions.

I think they should let the division settle for a bit. Perhaps after Lebedev, Makabu, and Dorticos lose to some younger guys, and some vacant titles get filled, then you can start-up another tournament. Maybe start with a "night of cruiserweights" in which Matty Askin, Arsen Goulamirian, Mario Doser, and Imre Szello are matched-up with proven veterans like Mike Perez, Firat Arslan, Mareusz Masternak, and Krzysztof Wlodarczyk. If it produces some newer top talent who have good momentum, then you can start WBSS.

mario daser is a fraud who pays for wins. hes got a lot of money in his family and with no amateur fights just suddenly decided to try pro boxing.

he fought a bunch of bums, took a strangely huge step up vs ola afolabi, only for afolabi to go down like a joke. afolabi posted an instagram message right after pretty much that he threw the fight for money
