Canelo Alavrez Surgery Was Cosmetic, Says Golden Boy
Golden Boy Promotions confirmed reports from Mexico, revealing that former world champion Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez (49-1-2, 34 KOs) underwent surgery on Friday at a private hospital in his native Jalisco.
However, Golden Boy says the surgery was "cosmetic" and nothing serious.
"Yes, they operated on Canelo Alvarez, but it was cosmetic, there are no more details," a spokesman for Golden Boy told ESPN Deportes.
Reports surfaced on Friday morning that Canelo entered a hospital to undergo arthorscopic knee surgery, but those reports were never confirmed by Golden Boy or the boxer's handlers.
Golden Boy did not confirm if Canelo will remain at the hospital overnight; nevertheless, a nearby source commented that they did not expect major setbacks.

Canelo Denies Cosmetic Surgery, Says Right Knee Was Worked On
Canelo has come out and personally confirmed that the information published in Mexico was indeed accurate.
"I want to share with you that today that I had to undergo a arthroscopic surgery to repair the internal femoral cartilage and to eliminate a fold in my right knee. I dismiss the erroneous information published by Golden Boy president Eric Gomez. Thanks for worrying, and in three to four weeks I'll be like new," Canelo stated.
There was some confusion earlier in the day when Gomez said Alvarez had undergone "cosmetic" surgery. Gomez later told ESPN that the confusion was in the translation of the description of Alvarez's surgery from Spanish to English.
"He had a cyst taken out of his knee," Gomez clarified to ESPN on Friday night. "It's not an injury. Since the fight [with Gennady Golovkin] was canceled, now was the time for him to take care of it. It was something that has been bothering him. And so now, since he isn't fighting, it was time to take care of it. But he would have been ready to fight on May 5 if there was a fight. There is no structural problem with his knee."

Can you take the word of anyone at either Golden Boy or Canelo's camp anymore? They can't even get their lies correct. Yeah, i'm sure Gomez doesn't know what "cosmetic" means. Oscar's in the fishnets again i think.

Re: Canelo Alvarez Having Knee Surgery?
Fortunately the surgery was a success and Canelo will be released from the hospital today.
Canelo assured everyone via Instagram that he'll be as good as new in 3 to 4 weeks.
His mobility should be greatly improved.

You reckon that's why his movement wasn't that good.

Re: Canelo Alvarez Having Knee Surgery?
..now in case of a lawsuit for damages, I guess they've got all papers necessary to prove it was also physically impossible for Canelo to take part in a boxing match on May, 5..
