Wasn’t a very good fight but got to say we’ll done Sam Bowen how he got to Super Featherweight I do not know. He must of been over 11 stone in that ring.. Maxi is a big Super Feather and he was tiny compared to Sam.. Best way I could put it is Sam looks like a Welterweight is slow and quite stiff throws some good body shots but will struggle when he fights someone who has a bit of power and can meet him head on.. I expected him to be a bit better with all the hype around him if I’m honest.. Size is a big attribute but I believe that will be his downfall.. I think matched correctly he could fight for bigger titles however as soon as he fights a puncher I think the weight will cause him to get badly stopped. Be interested to see his next move Carl was calling out Ronnie Clark and Zelfa Barrett I believe both best Sam and well. Very interesting division

not many fights where ive seen someone more committed to body punching then bowen was tonight. pretty much every movement and head punch was thrown to set up the body attack. and i notice hed keep bringing his normally back right foot in front or in line with the left, so he could really square up and hammer into the body

i can see the points about him being a bit stiff and slow, but physcially he looks a major handful. you could see hughes had skills and was quicker, but just overwhelmed in there with the constant draining body assault of bowen

would be interesting to see him vs someone with some power, to see if he can still bully them like that.

Yes totally agree but Maxi isn’t strong or doesn’t hit hard so the size advantage was always going to be the issue.. I worry about fighters who are naturally bigger dropping down to these weights.. Bowen is clearly a light welterweight at best and his movement is more suited for the heavier weights.. Its not only dangerous for Sam himself but for fighters he’s holding the advantage over.. This is one of my pet hates in boxing.. Canelo takes performance enhancers and he’s a scumbag but fighters cut weight purposely to be a weight or 2 divisions above their opponents and we accept it.. Anyway that’s not his fault that’s boxing he took a decent British level opponent apart so deserves all the credit
