Can't deny that. This is a good fight.

I assume Vargas had no issues making 144..

Yes, despite your personal opinion of Broner, no one can accuse him of avoiding challenges and world class fighters.

Even at a time in his career when it would probably be beneficial for him to take on a string of soft touches.

Personally I think this will be a better 'fan friendly' fight.
Broner takes all comers, he needs the money and he dosent have to protect the '0'.
Bring it on :box:

The Broner-Vargas bout will be fought at a catchweight of 144 pounds. Vargas, who has held titles at 140 and 147 pounds, is not worried about the weight.

"I make 147 easy so it shouldn't be a problem dropping 3 more pounds," he told BS.com.

argas, who is trained by former champion Mike McCallum, is confident that he is the better fighter and that his skills will make up for the weight disadvantage.

"I am not worried about it at all. I feel positive that I will make the weight with no problems. He's a talented fighter but I feel that I am the better fighter," Vargas explained.

Arguably a better fight than Broner-Figueroa. Good replacement on relatively short notice. Makes you think though, if Vargas can jump into a fight like this with 6 weeks to prepare then he obviously keeps himself in shape, if that's the case why has he only fought once since losing to Manny in November 2016?

Sometimes when boxer loses.. If they've made some decent amount.. I believe Vargas made a career-high $2.8 million.. Some boxers like to take an extended break.

Is that accurate?

Nearly $3 million for a mainstream no-name like Vargas on a lightly viewed PPV card, seems extravagant.

About $1 million tops would be my guess.

Against Pacman, that's how much he got..

Prior to that, his negotiations vs. Brook in the UK was going to see him earn a career-high $1.7 million.

I don't imagine he has much choice now. The PBC hype machine is done protecting him. I think Vargas takes a decision in this fight.

Broner-Vargas: Security Concerns Cause Schedule Changes

Potential security threats to boxers set to fight Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn have caused organizers of the card to alter the schedule of events leading up to it.

A TMZ.com report Tuesday suggested that a social media beef between Adrien Broner and rapper Tekashi69 were at the root of the schedule changes.

Tekashi69, according to TMZ, is believed to be well-connected to the Bloods, particularly in New York. The rapper, whose real name is Daniel Hernandez, is from Brooklyn.

BS.com has learned that to avoid any possible public conflicts, organizers of the card headlined by Broner decided to cancel an open workout scheduled for Wednesday and moved the site of a press conference set for Thursday. Schedule changes had been confirmed, however, even before promoters became aware of the alarming Broner-Tekashi69 conflict, partially due to animosity among multiple fighters scheduled to fight on Saturday’s card.

The open workout Wednesday was to take place at Gleason’s Gym in Brooklyn. Each of the six fighters set to participate in three bouts broadcast by Showtime on Saturday night – Broner, Jessie Vargas, Jermall Charlo, Hugo Centeno Jr., Gervonta Davis and Jesus Cuellar – were supposed to partake in the open workout.

The press conference initially was to take place Thursday at Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. It has been moved to Barclays Center, which is equipped with metal detectors at each of its entrances.

The weigh-in for Saturday’s card still will take place Friday afternoon at Barclays Center, as planned. The weigh-in will remain open to the public.

There's always a bad element swirling around Broner

But since it's boxing, you wonder if potential trouble is the real deal, or it's just manufactured routine hype.

Hopefully Vargas beats him this weekend, and Broner and his bullsh*t can go on and hit the journeyman trail from here on out where nobody will give two sh*ts if his fight get cancelled or not.

Pretty good match-up. They would mutually be close to the best scalp on the other one's resumes.

Tough one to predict.

Broner has loads of natural talent but seldom fights to his level these days.

And is he hungry anymore for those billions and billions or just happy with routine paydays?

Vargas is busy. Aggressive. Could easily out work Broner, whose punch output has become sparse since the Maidana defeat.

At times it appears he's afraid to let his hands go. Afraid to leave an opening.

But Vargas has been fairly inactive since Pacquiao. How does that effect him?

Does moving down to a 144 catchweight drain him? That weight might serve Broner better who's a super lightweight/welterweight tweener.

So many questions to be answered Saturday. Or will they?

Seen Vargas once against Pac-Man. Can’t say I was impressed by his Will in that fight. Especially compared to someone like Jeff horn who went guns blazing. Maybe pac was just very tricky for him. He’ll really need to give this one his all as a loss would be defining. Liked his fitness level and intensity as I saw a heavy bag workout..hopefully he brings that to the ring.

Also saw a clip of broner sparring. He doing his one pot shot thing with no combos. Vargas was rangy with pac I did notice that. He’s also taller longer arms. Broner will need more than one predictable punch to get in.

Think Vargas can do this. Decision him.

The hairs on the back of my head (none on top) make me think Vargas will wear him down and stop him late.

I've never seen Vargas as a big puncher. Even in terms of attrition.

And like him or not, Broner has shown toughness and durability, going 12 with Garcia, Maidana and Porter.

Vargas will very well win. But a KO would be a huge surprise.
