I know I've mentioned Simon Brown versus Maurice Blocker earlier on in this thread, but you'll go a long way to beat that if you watch their fight.
Someone said Gatti and Ward were friends, you CANNOT beat that (if it's true). I'm going to YouTube Brown/Blocker on your recommendation.

Gatti-Ward did not become real friends until after their third fight.
I can make up all sorts of fictional stuff that's far more interesting than the friendship between Brown and Blocker, but I'm not JK Rowling. I am not trying to write a fantasy story.
Instead I'm describing a real-life long-term genuine friendship that existed between two men well-before they fought, who were not just acquaintances, like most other names being mentioned in this thread.
Watch their fight and you'll surely realise that the victor was devastated at having KO'd his friend. He actually appeared severely traumatised.

I'm going to watch tonight. Nothing really else to do. I said no such thing as making anything up btw. Not sure where that came from. Thanks! PS: it better be good! lol!

You misinterpreted the tone of my post. I wasn't criticising you.
I was only hinting that others make things up or embellish in order to make their claims seem more interesting or compelling than than those expressed by others (for one-upmanship purposes).

No worries, I was wondering what it had to do with...that's all. I've seen your posts; you don't embellish or make things up.

I didn't know it was a contest for the best example. Does the winner get a prize? Internet cred? I thought the OP was just asking for examples...

I was commenting on the behaviour of others, but regardless, let’s hope that the so-called “winner” is awarded a lollipop.

I stand corrected. Embarrassingly, I’ve not seen The Fighter. I thought their third and final fight was a few years after their second.
Froch and Kessler were friends. Certainly before their second fight.
I remember this. Snr looks like a sack of Mellon pulp, shouldn’t have been allowed.
Gatti v Ward. They were close.
Were Gatti and Ward really close before their trilogy? Or did respect and friendship evolve from their in-ring rivalry?
I think this is often the case, that there's a respect after a fight, like with Froch/Kessler for example. The Crolla/Murray shout was a good one though, pretty sure I remember them being friendly in the build up.

Kalan v Golden Oldie?
I'd have to favor Golden Oldie. I get the feeling that Oldie would know enough about Boxing to throw a one-two combination at least while Kalan might be trying to win a Boxing match with a Jumpshot or a Lay-up. Thinking "That's how Wilt would've done it"

Kalan has sparred with world class heavyweights though. On the other hand he is a pacifist by virtue of his previous conscientious objection!
Golden Oldie may come in too angry due to his disliking of all things Murican and walk onto a punch.
