A day after being in Las Vegas for the commission hearing, Sanchez released this statement to BS.com:
"Now that the NSAC has done its investigation and handed down its ruling, it comes up short of helping this sport intent on destroying itself. By it’s regulation the NSAC is restricted in the testing of a fighter on it’s suspension list, (makes no sense)," Sanchez stated to BS.
"This fighter or others are free to continue their way of life and continue to abuse the system that is trying to regulate and maintain a clean sport, fighters on suspension can then time their cavalier lifestyle to coincide with the known reinstatement dates. Could the NSAC required testing during the suspension period? Absolutely, but why be proactive and help sport.
"The WBC has an opportunity to redeem itself in the eyes of the public, its members, ranked fighters and its fore-fathers, the integrity of this organization and public perception of them can be cured by the WBC upholding their regulations/programs, unannounced VADA testing this fighter on a regular basis, announcing to the public the number of times testing was done per day/week. Testing your favorite son, with the desire to catch if cheating, would show respect to current and past WBC champions, which you claim to support.
"The WBC has suspended/removed other fighters from its rankings, for not cooperating with its drug programs. Continue to be innovative, equally, start testing now, stop talking and proclaiming you care."

Re: Abel Sanchez Reacts To Canelo Suspension, Sends Message To WBC
Abel Sanchez once argued that his team deserved to receive an ‘attaboy (instead of criticism) for agreeing to allow VADA perform testing for only one month for the Golovkin-Lemieux bout.
VADA administered PED testing for only one month is simply a token gesture to help with PR and marketing purposes.
It allows the promoters to falsely claim that both Lemieux and Golovkin were "clean", as they were tested by VADA, but testing over such a short-period of time is utterly redundant, because it’s ineffective.
However, now that a fighter has been caught with a banned substance in his system, he wants them to be continuously tested on an unannounced basis.
In my eyes, you can’t have it both ways.
For sure, what Abel is saying, from a moral perspective, is absolutely correct, but his own actions are hypocritical.
The following quote from boxing trainer, Stephen "Breadman" Edwards, seems to be absolutely true in this case:
"No one in boxing from the networks, to managers, to promoter’s care who is using PEDs. They only care who gets caught."

Yep, a suspended athlete should definitely be tested during the suspension period. Not doing so is plain ridiculous.
Re: Abel Sanchez Reacts To Canelo Suspension, Sends Message To WBC
Nothing done previously in regards to PED testing matters at all. Siting previous treatment and showing examples is wrong because Boxing has never had anyone remotely close to Canelo’s fame test positive before. THE PENALTY needs to be clear, constant and penalizing to set the tone for the sport. There’s no doubt that this process has failed on every level and couldn’t have been handled worse. Sanchez couldnt be more right. It’s not about what a fighter did, it’s about how many tickets they sell. Sad.
