Will they avoid each other?

This has to be the best match up out there...

Hopefully we'll get to see it. I'd be comfortable picking Spence to win.

Both guys seem willing to take all comers, but as this business goes, it probably won't be up to them.

Not sure they are willing to meet all-comers.

Let Crawford get past Horn then maybe take on someone like Porter. After that then this has to happen. I see Crawford as the better boxer but Spence is a u it and is pretty relentless once he gets going. Biggest fight outthere ATM.

Since they're with different promotions, it will be a while.

There has to be a loud outcry for the matchup from the public before it's worth making it happen.

Right now they're still both hidden pleasures. Well known to the hardcore but still a question mark to casual fans.

I don't think they would meet before 2020.

Porter is an eye sore but I'd actually be interested to see how Crawford dealt with him. Both Brook and Thurman had to really tough it out against Porter and were often forced to fight his fight. Crawford is probably the best in the world at figuring people out and making the adjustments needed to make the fight look easy and most of the time find the stoppage. Doing that against Porter would be very impressive IMO.

I don't see anyone that either wouldn't fight.

Yeah that was my thinking mate. He's a proper strong welter and would be a good yardstick after he deals with Horn. That would be two big welterweights in a row and it would deffo help him settle and establish himself at the weight. I'd actually fancy Crawford to stop Porter tbh.

Crawford v Spence is fuckin mouthwatering man! I'd love to see either beat the shite outta Garcia as well before they meet :TU:

I don't think they should fight each other until they take care of ducks like Thurman and Garcia.

I think their fight is definitely the biggest possible matchup at Welterweight, and I agree it'd be bigger if they cleaned out the division first.

May be they could clean it out...if they fought more than once or twice annually.

Unfortunately that has become a sad trend among world class boxers.

We're 100% on the same page on that issue. I truly wish all the Elites fought at least 4-6 times a year. I wouldn't even mind mediocre opponents in 2 of the 6 bouts as long as we got more activity out of these guys.

Hell even as is where it's only 1 or 2 fights a year you STILL get sh*t opponents that should be nothing more than a "stay busy" bout.

I agree. They will avoid each other. I'm just so surprised nobody even talks about it.

They're not Leonard and Hearns.

Seems like Ward and Dirrell they will make sure they never meet.

Because they juice. It's the strategy they use. Fight twice a year...load up when you're not fighting...then stop...

Fighting once or twice hurts the sport.

If the best fighters aren't getting enough exposure then new fans aren't created and the casual fan has a ho-hum attitude about boxing.

It's bad enough that top fights are hidden away on premium cable and PPV. Relatively few viewers have access.

Then the stars compound it by fighting as infrequently as possible.

No wonder boxing struggles to gain mainstream popularity.

Yep...You think anybody would give a sh*t about Lebron James or Stephen Curry if they only played two games a season?

Spence said he wants to fight at least 3 or 4 times a year. I think it is a great match-up. Spence will beat him if Crawford stands and trades, but he has a lot of tools to change things up. Still betting on Spence in a very close fight. I think his size, strength and body work will be the difference. Arum will put it off as long as possible.

I think it's 18-24 months away. Time is on Spence's side, because he has more room to develop with experience.

Bob Arum has previously admitted that wants to marinate the bout and I even posted a video of him saying this. Haymon fighters are paid really well, even against journeymen and, commercially-speaking, Crawford isn't a big name and nor has he even made his debut yet at 147lbs.

Yep, Crawford needs to survive Horn first. Spence/Crawford would be a great fight but i lean towards Spence.

I think Crawford will handle Horn easy enough tbh. He's a level above. The Spence fight is really interesting. Two different styles that should gel well. We've not really seen if Crawford can tough it out yet. That's testament to how good he is. He's cruised through top/dangerous fighters without breaking sweat but Spence would be a different challenge altogether.
