Ok probably at this stage Jermall would beat old Golovkin but if I remember corectly Golovkin had to fight a lot of guys till he got to Canelo.

First, I think Jermall should beat a top guy like Jacobs to build his name more.

id bet charlo gets his mandatory wbc shot in a vacant title fight

a good mw opponent would be a start, someone better then centeno and that argie, jermalls excellent but id like to see him fight more good opponents. He has trout, jrock, but then down to guys like old man bundradge next and then worse. hugo was suleckis bitch boy.

Who did GGG beat in order to gain the WBC title?

Who did GGG beat to capture the WBA title?

If the same set of people who previously complained about the big names in the 160lbs division ducking GGG, why are they now supporting the notion that Golovkin should start ducking others?

GGG beat Milton Nunez for the interim WBA title back in August on 2010 & was made the WBA "regular" champion by the time of his first title defense that following December. GGG was recognized as the interim WBC champ following his KO2 over Marco Antonio Rubio in 2014 & given full recognition after his KO of Kell Brook in 2016.

Golovkin had a tough road till he got to Canelo. It's not about that damn trinket. Golovkin could unify with Saunders then dump that belt. It's more about earning your shot to get the top dog/s of your division.

I hope so. If Jermall would fight Jacobs and beat him then I see Jermall a very worthy and legit opponent for GGG. :TU:

Canelo rematch aside, nobody is more deserving of a shot at GGG than Charlo is.

That said, Charlo/Jacobs would be a great fight and I'd like to see it.

Replying to EO:

Nobody wants to answer your stupid question. Everybody knows that until recently, 160 was a weak division with champions preferring to fight weak opposition and dropping belts instead of fighting Golovkin. He couldn't get his belt from Sturm, Geale, Martinez, because they were ducking him, and so were other contenders.

Golovkin is the champion and Charlo is his mandatory challenger. If the Kazakh decides against taking this fight, then he'll inevitably be accused of being a duck and a hypocrite.

Who did Vanes Martirosyan beat to gain his title shot against GGG?

Tom Loeffler didn't reach out to any of Gennady's world rated rivals.

From what I've seen of both guys, Charlo beats Saunders soundly if they ever fight. Saunders has never impressed me. He barely scraped by Andy Lee, and Lemieux has always been supremely overrated.

i think charlos better, but saunders to me has gotten a stronger record claim when it comes to deserving a ggg fight

lemieuxs still way better of a win then a guy like centeno, who pitifully lost every round to sulecki before getting kod

charlos top 3 wins probably includes ancient cornelius bundrage at 154, i think hes the goods but hes resume aint as strong, let alone at mw, hes underachieving at the moment

At 160, Charlo has done no more than Murata or Derevyanchenko. I'd argue both of those have achieved more at the weight, with Heiland being a cripple when Charlo beat him.

Saunders and Jacobs are way ahead.

I hope Canelo gets frozen out, unless he submits to genuine 365 Olympic style testing. Not going to happen though.

In order:

Saunders
Jacobs
Murata
Derevyanchenko
Charlo

Charlo needs to beat one of the names above him, otherwise he'd be jumping the queue.

agree, dont confuse his obvious talent with his resume, hes not at all the most deserving non-canelo guy....of course that doesnt mean i dont think he should get a shot, but lets be real, if anything hes underachieved

I am counting his accomplishments at 154 in his favor. I don't really abide by the rule that you start from scratch when you move up in weight.

willie monroes for example not on any of a lower general level then jrock, easily one of charlos top 2 wins. if willie and jrock were to fight id consider it a very competitive with each on the same tier. even counting 154 i dont see how charlos the most deserving, at least if resume is involved

but he still has done way more then several ggg title opponents and looks way better then anyone gggs clearly beat

Me neither, but accomplishments lower down count for less. I also don't see Trout or Williams as anything special.

If he'd cleaned out 154, I'd agree with you, but 2 ok wins over 2 reasonably decent fighters at a lower weight is still no better than Sergei beating Tureano Johnson or Murata's 2 wins over N'Dam (we all know the rematch shouldn't have been needed).

Saunders just gave Lemieux a spanking and holds the final belt Golovkin wants for his collection, and Jacobs is about to beat the guy who stopped Charlo's most recent opponent, after giving a good account of himself against Golovkin and icing Quillin.

Charlo is way behind those two in the pecking order.

I agree he's talented, but he needs to prove it.

Charlo's best win is going life and death with Trout. His next win is being far bigger than Williams in the ring, and that was just about even until the stoppage.

I don't think G3 is/will duck him, just time wise, I don't see the fight happening. Vanes on May 5th, then Canelo in Sept. Assuming he wins both ad doesn't get stripped, I can see Saunders early next year. With him being 37, and possibly undefeated, unified champion, I could easily see him retiring.

Charlo needs to fight and legit top 10 guy. Even if him and Andrade got together would work. His overall resume is weak, especially at 160...

Why would he bother with a talented guy like Jacobs for what figures to be chump change?

I'm sure Charlo would prefer a matchup with Golovkin for a more sizeable hunk of change.

But Canelo will get to Golovkin first.

Because he never gets Golovkin unless he beats someone ahead of him in the queue first.

If he simply waits in line, GGG retires before Charlo ever gets chance to fight him.

Martirosyan, Canelo, Derevyanchenko, Saunders... That's probably it.
