Official: Otto Wallin vs. Adrian Granat - April 21, 2018

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Swedish heavyweights Otto Wallin (19-0, 13 KOs) and Adrian Granat (15-1, 14 KOs) will meet in a grudge match for the European Union title on April 21 at the Gärdehov ice hockey arena in Sundsvall, Sweden.

The 26 year-old fighters have been on a collision course since joining the professional ranks in 2013, and following years of speculation, now the time has come to see who is Sweden’s number one heavyweight.

Wallin, the current WBA Continental Champion, has a record of 19 wins and 0 defeats, while Granat, a former IBF International Champion, has suffered just 1 defeat in his 16 contests, and boasts a frightening near perfect KO ratio of 88%.

Fun fight for the swedes. All two of them who cares about boxing. Wallin have been looking pretty good since he moved to New York and Granat tends to look arrogant and keep his chin up (wich got him ktfo recently) so my money is on Wallin.

This is an interesting fight for anyone who likes heavyweight boxing, you don't need to be Swedish. Granat was shocked and KTFOd by Dimitrenko in what was expected to be his first step toward world level. At that time he was regarded as Sweden's number one heavy but Wallin has rather taken over since Granat's loss.

I'm going for Granat to reestablish himself as number one by decision. Wallin is a decent boxer and seems to have a decent chin so far - it hasn't really been tested, but he doesn't seem to hit hard enough to threaten to do a Dimitrenko on Granat, there again I might have said that about Dimitrenko, before he did!

Is that right they are fighting for the EBU title? Surely Kabayel hasn't vacated, or is the EU title different to the EBU?

I believe there are two titles. Boxrec lists

European championship and EU EBU Championship. I don't know which is regarded higher. I'm assuming it's the one Kabayel has.

Thanks Ruthless, yes the EBU is the kosher European crown. Dear God now we're getting fragmented Euro titles, what next an alternative ruling UK governing body? :brick:

I mostly approve of this fight. It is pretty evenly matched. Neither of them really have any wins that are better than Franz Rill, but each of them are only a minor step up from Franz Rill anyway, so it's fine.

Rocco Wadell Gets New Opponent For Wallin-Granat Card
Timra-boxer Rocco Wadell (4-0, 2 KOs) must face a new challenge on April 21. The 24 year-old will now meet Hungary’s Mark Krammerstodter (3-2-1, 1 KO) following the withdrawal of his scheduled opponent Antonio Petrov.

Wadell fights on the undercard of the Swedish super fight between heavyweight rivals Otto Wallin and Adrian Granat at the Gärdehov in Sundsvall, and despite the late change of opponent, ‘The Rock’ says it will not affect his focus.

“Things like this happen in boxing. It’s not unusual for an opponent to pull out at short notice. It's no going to affect my performnace in the ring. That’s one of the reasons why I always put the main focus on myself and not who I’m going to meet,” said Wadell, who insists he is in top condition for his four-round super middleweight clash.

Tickets are available via www.ticketmaster.se or by calling 077-170 70 70.

Team Sauerland´s and EC Boxing´s show at Gardehov was off to a fast start as heavyweight Agron Skamici, 13-0, knocked out georgian Giorgi Tamazashvili 1.05 into the first with a bodyshot. Tamazashvili looked every bit a soft touch.

In the second fight of the evening heavyweight Albon Pervizaj, 8-0, stopped another Georgian in Irakli Gvenetadze, who was retired by his corner after getting up from a knockdown at 1.23 into the second. Gvenetadze was cut on the nose and was fighting a losing fight but it was an early retirement.

Both fights were scheduled for four.
A third off TV fight at heavyweight - David Loy vs Dusan Krstin - was planned but fell through at the last moment.

Middleweight Oliver Flodin moved to 3-0 with a unanimous four round points win over Aliaksandr Dzemska, 5-4. Flodin scored well in the first two but could never hurt his opponent, who landed with some sharp counters of his own. In the final two Flodin´s better conditioning took over and he won on 40-36 on all cards.

Light heavyweight Robin Safar, 6-0, outscored Croatian Josip Perkovic, 4-5-1, over six. It was scored 60-53 on all cards. Safar started slowly but upped the pace for a strong finish. Perkovic was cut on the nose in the third and had was hurt by a right in the fifth and had to take a standing eight count. In the sixth Perkovic was just in it to last the distance and he did as Safar posed a bit too much.

Super middleweight and local hero Rocco Wadell, 5-0, outscored Hungarian Mark Krammerstodter, 3-2-1, over four and won every round but was made to miss a lot by his much shorter opponent. Krammerstodter scored with with a few counters and made Wadell work hard for his win.

Don't ya hate it when this happens? There were virtually no big fights on yesterday, and then today there's so damn many you can't watch 'em all. I wish they'd just space 'em out a little more on the scheduling.

sure, EBU is a title of Europe, EBU-EU is a title of European Union, therefore fighters from Russia, Ukraine etc cannot fight for it

Otto Wallin Decisions Adrian Granat, Captures The EU Title

Sundsvall, Sweden - Otto Wallin, 20-0, 13 KOs, won the vacant EU and Swedish titles at heavyweight with a clear win over Adrian Granat, 15-2, over twelve fast-paced rounds. Wallin dominated the fight with his slick movement, southpaw style and better technique against the heavy punching Granat, who kept chasing, and kept missing throughout the fight.

Wallin scored well to the body and Granat was hurt in the eighth but dug deep and finished the round strongly.

In the eleventh he appeared to have Wallin in trouble for the first and only time in the fight but Otto slipped away and boxed on safety in the last round knowing the win was in the bag.

It was a fast-paced fight - especially for heavyweights and Wallin, trained by Joey Gamache since turning pro, showed good moves. Granat, since a few months trained by Jonathon Banks, tried very hard and kept coming showing good fighting spirit but was overall outboxed and it was obvious by Banks instructions that his new pupil didn´t do the things they had worked on in the gym.

At the end it was scored 117-111, 117-112 and 118-110.

For the winner there might be a fight for the EBU title before the year is out.
