S.Harrison Arrested

Post by Old bones Ian »

From various websites is reports that Scott Harrison has been arrested for a disturbance at a Glasgow city centre pub, reports have said he was drinking there with some mates.

Not ideal training, whats the bets that his next fight gets postponed due to 'Injuy'

I would say pretty strong chances.

It isn't ideal preparation by the sounds of it, but all depends on when he started his training... I suppose one night out on the lash isn't going to really damage your chances with 4 weeks to go, if he has been at training camp along time before this night.

Very disappointing. he claimed he had sorted himself out, but it's not looking good is it?

I have a close friend in Glasgow with a passing interest in Boxing (she is a kick-Boxer) and she says Harrisons popularity is not was it was the term 'Ned' is often used I am afraid.

It's a shame as he can be a good fighter.

In a related matter, danish ex-boxer and now cornerman Tue Bjørn Thomsen was stapped to death earlier "today" outside a disco in Copenhagen.

As a pro Thomsen won the danish heavyweight title and the IBC super cruiserweight title.

As amateur he was a two time danish champion and he participated in the 1997 world championships where he won bronze (Silver and gold was won by Savon and Chagaev).

Yeah, I've just read that to.

From the BBC

It is understood that officers used CS gas to restrain the featherweight during the incident.

Scott must have been kickin' off in a big way.

Things are not looking good for Scott's next fight, scheduled for May 20. I doubt he has been in serious training / preparation, because with less than a month to go until fight date, he's in the pub drinking?

I reckon Scott is a proper handful, more-so when he got alcohol in him. You would not want to take him on, especially if he's pissed!

I doubt very much he'll fight on May 20. Harrison's due in court on Monday.

Met two Glasgow girls in town once a few years back, and even then they said Harrison was well known for being trouble.

Yeah, I'm wondering if maybe someone has confronted him about why he's out when he's supposed to be fighting. Maybe someone a bit free with their criticisms. Or maybe someone chiding him for not fighting Barrera (he gets asked about that in particular, often). The 'ned' label really blew up after one of the daily tabloid's had him on the front page with it. The word plays a huge part in the public consciousness up here so it would only take that one headline to stick. Of course the more incidents that happen the more it seemingly becomes valid...

Anyhow, like Rocky says, it would be a bad idea to get in a ruck with Harrison. You'd need to be quite a bit naturally bigger than him (normal poundage doesn't count) and catch him with a big (proper) punch. Getting in a normal street-style dogfight could easily turn hellish. You'd have to call on a lot of spirit in your belly for that.

Harrison does silly things when he's on the beer and stuff.

Like light cigars with £20 pounds notes.

He's a fool, and brings shame on scottish sport.

A shame he didnt fight Guzman, who would have stopped him

The effects of alcohol can actually affect you for about a week so it can have a really bad effect on your training.

No wonder he has trouble making the weight if he's on the booze all the time. You'd think after his previous troubles Scott would have learned his lesson... not the brightest light in the lamp alas!...

He has had a number of 'altercations' in bars and clubs around Glasgow over the last few years.

Was even banned from every bar in the City center for about 6 months (?) last year.

Do a search on his name on this forum and you will find plenty of reports on these incidents.

It's a regular thing I am afraid.

By all accounts though his father and trainer Peter is a really nice bloke.
