Tommy Morrison is comming back!

Post by Tommy Gunn »

Hey folks, I haven't post here in a while. A lot of uneducated people might think that this could be insane.
Tommy Morrison is thinking to come back to the ring, after proving and doing a lot of reserch that hiv/aids cannot be infected in the ring, and there was never a documented case in the history of boxing that a fighter got infected in the ring.... that will allow Tommy to fight...
He is thinking for a come back.. what do you guys think?
I saw recent pictures and saw him on espn 2 weeks ago, and he looked to me that he still in very good shape! better than fatty rahman at least! :)

note: heavyweight division is not like it was back in the 90's with better competition than today.....

morrison and his prime

Post by Tommy Gunn »

he was never on his prime, because he had a short carreer.
he quit when he was 26, all the champions out there today are over 30!

True, but he hasn't fought in so long that most of his skills are pretty much gone.

I agree with you, heavyweight today is a farce. All big shots are way over 30. The 26 year old Tommy would have been a major player today.
Most people ain't fair towards him maybe because he is white and/or has a doubtable chin. Both kind of fighters aren't very popular amongst 'experts'.

For me the question is not whether he is great or just a bum from the neighbourhood. He ain't and wasn't one of both.
My point is: I don't like a fighter just because he may be the best in his division (Floyd Mayweather for example).
I like fighters with heart, a lot of heart. Boxers like Tommy, like Mickey Ward, like Arturo Gatti.

I watch the Morrison - Ruddock tape over and over again rather than Lewis - Holyfield.
I think Tommy was not far ahead from his prime which was just not good enough to make it to the top. Accept that. He faced some of the best and beat some but lost against more. This wouldn't have changed if he could have continued his career.

Being a fan of someone doesn't necessarily have to mean that you ain't able to accept reality.
Tommy didn't suck nor did he rule. He was a top 20 boxer, end of story.

I will always be a fan of him anyway.

Thank you for your comments, I totally agree with you 100%, even though, I am that type of person that still believe in my heart that tommy morrison was the shit! best left hook, very fast, charismatic! He was a bad ass, the ruddock fight, tommy said once to my friend:
"if the referee woudn't stop the fight in round 6? I was going to die!"
He gave everything in the ring that night, and won because he had the biggest balls in the division.
But I gree with you, I have to look realisticly and yes he did lose with some people that he wasn't suppost to lose, 3 losses only! but still. He was for sure top 20, no doubt about it. And the best of morrison was about to come when he had to quit because of the HIV.
He was going signed a 3 fight deal with don king, for 38 million dollars, 2 tuneup fights and than Tyson. After that Tommy said that either the tyson fight was win, draw, loss, he was going to quit boxing.

You know what, I may be the only person (except you) that likes 'Rocky 5'. Actually I think it's the best Rocky movie (except for Rocky 1 of course).
It's because of Tommy Morrison, he is an awfully bad actor (I wonder why he always wanted to be one) but his appearance is just great, he is credible like he was in the ring.
Imagine he had hit Sylvester with one left hook

Do you know where I can download fights of Tommy? Sorrowly he fought before the internet age...

--------------------------------

I guess one problem is that people tend to love champions and despise the rest. Nearly everybody seems to be a Lennox fan though he became an arrogant, money addicted businessman. What attracts me most in boxing is not just the fight but the characters. I love to spend hours researching boxers' backgrounds. Tommy for sure has a very interesting bio.
Why doesn't he find a publisher for his story???

I became his fan, when I saw rocky V, than someone told me he was a real fighter, than I said: ''No shit!" so I start watching him on tv.
You can download his fights on his website http://www.tommymorrison.com
He is looking for a publisher so he can start selling his book, that is already done!!! :) I can't wait to read the book.
He went last week to NY to see what's up with his publisher, but I didn't get any news yet after his trip.
Tommy has one of the most explosives left hooks in boxing. If he hits you right, I don't care if your name is Bowe(Tommy already kicked his ass back in 1989), Holyfield, Tyson, Holmes and company: you are gone.
