I know we don't know who it is going to be yet, but do you think his opponent knows yet?
It concerns me that the longer this drags out, the less preparation his opponent gets.
So in all probability, we get a lowly opponent without a full camp to prepare.
Thoughts??

Any truth to rumors that the Fury camp is trying to persuade Phil Lo Greco to put on about 50 pounds??

I don't even think they'd risk having Lo Greco put on 50lbs, they'll want him weighing in at 147lbs. :oo

Shannon Briggs would be circus . . nothing more. If Warren wants to begin the process of building toward a super-fight he should pick a fairly safe American with a credible record like BJ Flores, John Wesley Nofire, Joe Hanks or Chazz Witherspoon. The fight should be about Fury's conditioning and the fact that he is committed to re-climbing the ladder and not rather a WWE spectacle which it would become with Briggs.

Spectacle draws interest. Interest is never a bad thing.

I'd rather see Fury fight Briggs than BJ Flores, Joe Hanks or any of those others. At least there'd be interest.

Tyson Fury's comeback isn't gonna be taken seriously by me at first regardless of which of those names he chooses, but at least the Briggs fight would carry a unique bit of novelty.

As I reported more than a week ago, it seems that Sefer Seferi will be officially announced as Tyson Fury’s next opponent:

"'I never thought I would fight my idol Tyson Fury': Sefer Seferi claims he will be 'Gypsy King's' comeback opponent on June 9 at Manchester Arena"

Albanian boxer Sefer Seferi has reportedly revealed he will be the man to face former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury in his comeback fight on June 9.

'This would make a dream come true. I never thought I'd have the chance to stand against Fury - my idol,' Seferi told them.

'Fury is a boxing legend of the 21st century. He is tall, has weight and strength, moves to it quite easily, and he has dethroned Wladimir Klitschko. Fury is a bear.'

Seferi, who normally fights at cruiserweight, will have to pack on the pounds in order to step up a division to face the Gypsy King...

'I will not make it easy for Fury. I will try to put pressure on him. Someone has to stand up to him in the build-up.'

Ranked 2nd best Albanian cruiserweight, according to Boxrec... out of 2.

His brother Nuri is number 1.

Ustinov and Breazeale are both so slow and cumbersome, if Fury can't beat them he's done. Other than maybe size they are tailor made for Fury to look good.

Marvelous! Oh well, at least Seferi might get a low risk payday. It will be stretching it to call it a fight.

If Ray Leonard can come back after 3 years and beat Hagler, then why the hell are we talking about easy opponents for Fury.

Technically, Sugar Ray came back against Kevin Howard......and got dumped on his arse.

:shame:
That was about a year and a half after his initial retirement. He then remained inactive and semi-retired for another 3 years or close to it before fighting Hagler.

There had been more time between the Howard fight and the Hagler fight than there was between his initial "retirement" and the Howard fight.

a year and a half in the 80's was a long time

nowadays you have to be inactive for about a decade to be considered retired.

since furys been out ajs beaten

wlad
parker
whyte
takam
breazeale
molina
martin

stronger resume since fury last fought then fury has all career. 3 years from after the day fury last fought youll prob be able to add povetkin for aj, whereas furys only w in 3 years will be a 40 year old mediocre cruiser sendar seferi

ill recognize the man as the guy whose actually been fighting regularly and getting all sorts of good wins, its bad for boxing to freeze a champs status and let him just sit around doing nothing then returning to fight crap . strange that some support that. its hardly as if furys record is way better then anyone elses or at all. maybe if he had a vastly better record then anyone active a stronger case could be made for him

The Brits do love circus freaks so I can see Fury beating up on some obscure side of beef when he stumbles back into British boxing. Great news for the sport. Absolutely Fabulous spectacle. Tens of thousands will flock to White City Stadium and millions more will sit in their stuffed chairs with open gobs to gape in wonder at the flabby whale that is Fury.

Fury didn't want to fight citing emotional duress and substance abuse.

You can't hold the title forever if you don't care to drag your ass into the ring.

It has to be vacated.

And only hardcore fans even remember that Fury once held the title.

It's not like he had a lengthy reign. He never even defended it. He's fortunate that he remains an attraction.

Corbett and FItzsimmons both retired during their reigns.

I think all three are great comeback fights since they all are live opponents, maybe you could make an argument that both Briggs and Ustinov are getting old so Breazele would probably be the best one that would prove to the fans that Tyson still has it.

Agreed.

I want to see how good Fury actually is.

Fighting a guy from the weight class below him isn't going to tell me anything I need to know.

Fury claims he's the best out there, so he needs to go out & show it.

Breazeale would be the perfect type of opponent for his return, because it will answer a lot of questions.

Eddie Hearn said he couldn’t agree terms with Fury because of the level of opponents Team Fury wanted for his first 3 fights . Hearns quotes don’t indicate Fury was looking at fighters the level of Braezeale or Ustinov

. ”The bravado and the reality are two very different things. The reality is he wants to come back and have three fights against some really low level opponents to get himself [back to the top],” Hearn said

Like I said above it’s going to be an absolute plant pot in his first fight and probably his second too.

allegedly all but confirmed this in the press conference today. Basically Warren said “look he’s going to fight 3 times in quick succession but his opponents will be hand picked solely to shake off ring rust”
