Jessie Magdaleno vs Isaac Dogboe

Post by handsofstone »

Magdaleno defends his WBO Super Bantamweight title against fellow unbeaten Dogboe on BN this Saturday, ive never seen Dogboe but I remember his last win getting a bit of attention, he's from Accra so its safe to assume he'll be teak tough ;-)

I just hope he puts up a better fight than Dos Santos did against Magdaleno last time out, who was swept aside in 2 rounds, I like Magdaleno he's a quick sharp combination puncher who digs with a bit of snap, Dogboe should give him a bigger test hopefully

Still see Magdaleno winning this comfortably on points

I dont understand how you can make a prediction on a fight when you have never seen one of the fighters?

Do you really believe that most people who make predictions have the slightest clue about what they’re predicting? Even the experts are just guessing a lot of the time.

dogboe to me has been really under the rader for how good he is. hes very talented. breezed to an aba title in under 20 fights and was dubiosly eliminated in the olympics vs the bronze medal winner, in a fight where dogboe had lead first two rounds but then the other guy was gifted loads of points for nothing in the 3rd and won by a point. maybe not as well schooled as magdaleno, but more athletically gifted. it seems a very well matched fight.

last fight dogboe easily beat up, outboxed, overpowered, and knocked out a guy in 5 rounds who had given donaire hell and taken him the distance

I favour Magdaleno on points. He’s looked a good talent for a while. Can’t see inactivity being a problem.
I like Dogboe aswell. Obviously has the British ties. Looks a talent but I think Magdaleno is a bit special.

Best fight of the weekend.

I read that Dogboe will begin studying at Sheffield or Cardiff uni in September and lived in Brixton for quite some time.

Wait until Adam Smith gets a hold of one of Dogboe’s fights;

“Teak tough Ghanaian”

“From the proud fighting town of Accra, Ghana”

“Shades of Azumah Nelson here”

Repeat those sayings 10 times over and that’s the commentary right there.

The fight was great. A truly intense one. The finish was controversial in some sence. In the last round before knocking Magdaleno down for the first time Dogboe landed on the body, Jessie looked hurt, then Dogboe landed low, after what Jessie went down. And the stoppage after the second knockdown was well made.

Very good performance from Dogboe, he's a spiteful little fvcker is he? Getting put down in the 1st round could've unravelled him but he stuck to the task in hand and by the 4th he was starting to come into it, the shot he put Magdaleno down with first time was a corker of a shot, nearly took Magdaleno off his feet, after that Dogboe bullied Magdaleno up close and whipping in shots to the body with both hands, not all the punches were legal but there was no intent to foul, he was just so fired up he was steaming in

Magdaleno looked like he was starting to have success when he used his legs and boxed Dogboe around the 9th/10th mark but once Dogboe trapped him on the ropes in the 11th he couldn't cope with the left hooks especially, great TKO for Dogboe he ground Magdaleno down and deserved his win, he's a fighter

And they were saying that he doesn't want to box but his dad is making him do it.

He looked much smaller than Magdelano as well.

They should play up the UK angle a bit more. Not sure how much of his life was/is spent in Brixton but with the UK scene being as hot as it is they could cash in on a few fights in London.

Great fight, Dogboe was excellent. Gutted my PTBF streak finally came to an end though, I did have a feeling Magdaleno’s inactivity could be a key factor

Dogboe was fantastic. Showed serious ring smarts to figure what shots hurt Magdaleno and disguise them.
Could of head hunted yet always slipped the body shots in.
I’ve also not seen a little fella cut the ring off so well for a long time.
Long reign Dogboe :salut:
