Errol Spence Jr. vs. Carlos Ocampo - June 16, 2018
Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Carlos Ocampo - June 16, 2018
Thurman seems to have his next three opponents at least lined up, and none of them are Spence. Its funny how mandatories become extremely important when they are safer/easier fights that will allow you to keep your belt. Nothing new though. Thurman can look back and say he ruled welter for 2 to 3 years, even though he took one year off, and avoided the best competition the next year.

I can't see Porter shying away from a Spence fight. Hopefully he smashes Danny's teeth down his throat and then we can have that as a unification.gilgamesh wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 17:50You can't fight people that won't fight you.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 17:49Very young?

Spence is huge at 147 too. 154 looks like a division with more possibilities at the moment.

Porters very ugly to watch imo. I’d prefer Garcia v Spence. Two punchers, lots of action. Of course I’d favour Spence by a mile but it would be a very good scalp on the record.Deleted_Scenes wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 19:12I can't see Porter shying away from a Spence fight. The difference is, I think Porter would accept the fight in a heartbeat. I'm not sure Danny would. Not for a while, anyway. Just a hunch really, not actually based on much.lazboy wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 19:54Porters very ugly to watch imo. I’d prefer Garcia v Spence. Two punchers, lots of action. Even so, does being avoided shave a few years off a fighter's age?gilgamesh wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 17:50You can't fight people that won't fight you.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 17:49Very young?

It's not as though he's earning the end of his peak.. He's peak now. Peak hasn't got much to do with age.

So you're saying it could be Spence vs either Berto or Alexander in the fall?
Not exactly the most exciting or anticipated matchup we could hope for.

As long as he stays active.. i don't care.. Devon 'should' decision Berto.. Spence vs. Devon is okay..SenorPipino wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 11:13So you're saying it could be Spence vs either Berto or Alexander in the fall?

Like Spence said, he can't force the others to fight him.. evebtually, maybe.. hopefully..
Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Carlos Ocampo - June 16, 2018
Porter already has shied away from fighting Spence. He was asked a few months ago why not fight Spence for a title instead of trying to get a fight with Garcia as a title eliminator. Porter said he would fight Spence eventually, probably, but right now he was on a different path, the WBC route. He said he already had the IBF belt 3 years ago.Deleted_Scenes wrote: ↑26 Apr 2018, 19:12I can't see Porter shying away from a Spence fight. When these guys have the same manager, the fights shouldn't be hard to make.....unless they flat out refuse to fight you.

Errol Spence vs. Carlos Ocampo Finalized For June 16
Undefeated welterweight champion Errol "The Truth" Spence Jr. will defend his IBF world title in a Dallas homecoming Saturday, June 16 live on SHOWTIME at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco against unbeaten mandatory challenger Carlos Ocampo in an event presented by Premier Boxing Champions. It will be the first boxing event inside Ford Center and Spence's first hometown fight as world champion.
Tickets for the event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions in association with Man Down Promotions, go on sale Friday, May 4 at 10 a.m. CT and can be purchased at www.SeatGeek.com.
"Errol Spence, Jr. has emerged as one of the most exciting champions in the sport today with a combination of skills that he has crafted into a fan-friendly style,'' said Tom Brown, President of TGB Promotions. "This is an opportunity for Errol to defend his title before the fans in his hometown at Ford Center at The Star and to continue to demonstrate why he is the top man in the 147-pound division. Carlos Ocampo, a young hungry contender, will certainly bring his A-game and that will bring out the best in Errol. It promises to be an entertaining show for boxing fans.''
"SHOWTIME has become home to the biggest stars in boxing and Errol Spence is one of its brightest," said Stephen Espinoza, President, Sports and Event Programming for SHOWTIME. "Spence made an emphatic statement one year ago when he traveled to Sheffield, England to wrest the title from the champion on his home turf. Now, a young and talented Carlos Ocampo has an opportunity to do the same. We are proud to team up with the Dallas Cowboys, Ford Center, TGB Promotions and Premier Boxing Champions to deliver yet another of boxing's must-see, marquee events."

Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Carlos Ocampo - June 16, 2018
Considering he beat Peterson comfortably and will likely do the same to Ocampos, Spence should be looking to get out another 2 times before the end of the year. Especially if one of those is going to be Berto/Alexander, who he'd probably take care of easily as well.

There's something very wrong about Berto possibly getting another high profile title shot.ElJefe wrote: ↑30 Apr 2018, 15:41 Considering he beat Peterson comfortably and will likely do the same to Ocampos, Spence should be looking to get out another 2 times before the end of the year. And at this point, I don't feel a potential win over Alexander makes you deserving.

Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Carlos Ocampo - June 16, 2018
Ocampo is a good fighter. A good fighter with no chance to win this fight.
Re: Errol Spence Jr. vs. Carlos Ocampo - June 16, 2018
ive seen ocampo and wasnt impressed at all. hes clearly not world class imo. and even most (all?) world class welters would be smashed by spence
also devon vs berto is pure recycled crap in terms of the winner getting a shot. its a fine fight for its own level but not for getting a shot vs a top champ.
