Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
I've got Mag winning a close competitive decision. Probably 7-5 or 6-5-1.
I see Dogboe starting fast and winning 4 or 5 of the first 6 rounds, then Jesse comes on strong in the later rounds.

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Magdaleno will use smart movement to outbox Dogboe.
So many African fighters are tough, strong and extremely well conditioned.
But I find that they're also frequently plodding and one dimensional.
Movement frustrates them and they usually spend the fight following their opponent around the ring, unable to get set and throw.
That's the blueprint to beating the African fighters, and I expect Magdaleno will follow it and win a comfortable decision.

Sort of off-topic but I’m looking forward to the Shakur Stevenson fight on the same bill but it is the 7th bout listed on boxrec. Do you think it will be live on ESPN? if not where do you think I can watch it? An app?

Shakur was an Olympian, and it's a 3 hour broadcast tonight on ESPN so I get the feeling they'll show his bout.THESURESHOT wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 17:07 Sort of off-topic but I’m looking forward to the Shaker Stevenson fight on the same bill but it is the 7th bout listed on boxrec. Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Think you're right. Especially if another bout ends in a KO. But even without that I think we will see AT LEAST highlights of Shak.gilgamesh wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 17:09Shakur was an Olympian, and it's a 3 hour broadcast tonight on ESPN so I get the feeling they'll show his bout.THESURESHOT wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 17:07 Sort of off-topic but I’m looking forward to the Shaker Stevenson fight on the same bill but it is the 7th bout listed on boxrec. It's my understanding that the Stevenson bout will only be on that new ESPN+ app.gilgamesh wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 17:09Shakur was an Olympian, and it's a 3 hour broadcast tonight on ESPN so I get the feeling they'll show his bout.THESURESHOT wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 17:07 Sort of off-topic but I’m looking forward to the Shaker Stevenson fight on the same bill but it is the 7th bout listed on boxrec. The one that goes for $4.99 monthly.
It's very possible if they have time to fill, highlights of the Stevenson fight will be shown on the main ESPN broadcast.
Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
That ESPN+ App basically just guarantees a lot less viewership for stuff. Unless it's flowing down the river through some other means I'll never see sh*t on ESPN+

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
The suits at ESPN have apparently decided that the + app is going to be a lucrative venture.
All the TR big names will probably only appear on the app in the future, once Lomachenko fulfills his ESPN network obligation against Linares next month.
I'll probably end up getting it at only $49.99 annually.
Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Any time I have to add an additional monthly fee, I just lose interest in the thing that I'd be buying it for, and turn my attentions to something that's free.SenorPipino wrote: ↑28 Apr 2018, 18:23The suits at ESPN have apparently decided that the + app is going to be a lucrative venture.

I'm pretty cheap too. I usually buy my beer at the 99 Cent Only store.
But if I'm going to splurge anywhere in life, it has to be on boxing.
Usually the best things in life come with a price.

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Shakur Stevenson gets a routine 2nd round KO win over Patrick Riley (NOT the ex NBA coach) on the undercard.
Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
I've never seen anything quite like that ending in the Jesse Hart vs Demond Nicholson fight.
A right hand drops Nicholson's glove to the canvas, but for some reason that's not called a knockdown. He gets dropped again...referee counts, but also has a conversation with him
"5,6...You gotta keep your hands up...7,8...get up, get up"
Motherf*cker what? I think you mean 9,10

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Dogboe can land some shots, but no real evidence that he can hurt Magdaleno.
Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Except later, when there's been... real evidence that he can.
Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Dogboe is giving Magdaleno an ass kicking since that knockdown in the 5th. He's on his way to the upset.
67-64 Dogboe

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Dogboe's a pitbull. Magdaleno only impressive in little bursts, but often just not fighting a smart fight.
Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Dogboe by KO, and should have been up on the cards anyway. I do think a low blow was key in the sequence that set it up, though.

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Nice nice performance by Dogboe.
Fought his fight and Magdaleno couldn't find any answers.
The Ghanan is a strong, tireless, tenacious guy.
He could be a star in the making. What would he do with a Rigo?
I don't know how much the year layoff hurt Magdaleno. He was short with his punches quite a bit. Timing seemed poor.
Maybe the worst thing to happen to Magdaleno was that first round knockdown.
He got into a toe to toe battle with the stronger Dogboe looking to duplicate that punch, instead of using his boxing skills and quickness.
A rematch is in order to see if Magdaleno fought foolishly and dispensed with his game plan early, or if Dogboe is the real deal and is simply too rough and strong.
BTW, did Dogboe throw Magdaleno over the wall post-fight?

Re: Magdaleno vs Dogboe predictions
Nope. Magdaleno went over and embraced Dogboe and his father. During the interview, both were extremely gracious with Dogboe apologizing for comments building up to the fight. Was so refreshing compared to Broner's antics.

Dogboe literally ripped the WBO belt away from Magdaleno. Insane climax.
