I really didn't expect the level of opposition to be that high when the formula was announced. I'm also intrigued! :TU:

Odd that But..and Solomon face each other in the first round. I think talent wise, both are in the top 3 of the field of 8. Intriguing fight in the opening round.

Felix Diaz should be the clear favourite. There's no Crawford in the tournament waiting for him.

Very poor quality of opposition, many not even in the top 100.

Looks like this tourney took a major step downward with the elimination of favorite Felix Diaz. :verysad:

Glorified journeyman Francisco Santana had lost both of his previous bouts and 3 of his last 4..

Santana is a work rate quantity fighter so the possibility was there that he would outwork and unfocus, not motivated Diaz... That is what happen. Now you got Solomon who has the skills to derailed hard workers like Santana or Heerden.

I pers like Santana, he fights with his heart and was in FOTY contenders.

I can see why you like Santana, a real warrior, I'm just disappointed that this tourney will probably not produce a winner who has a legit chance of winning the mandatory title shot that the tourney provides. The concept is definitely valid. :OhYes:

I think Holyfield can eventually become a top-notch promoter, so hopefully this will prove to be a learning experience for him.
