Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
miller has an interesting body. he has huge weights but never really looks massively fat. hard to believe hes been around 50 pounds heavier than a total blob like andy ruiz.
maybe hes got really thick legs. i know he was a kickboxer.

Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
His thighs are massive Jammy!
Like tree trunks.
Which is a shame, he dosent use them in his punches. Aside from that, Miller is looking great and so is Duhaupas. Having both guys in a full camp makes this a lot more interesting. I'm looking forward to it.
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
i think miller should win handily but duhaupas is usually a good test, hopefully he comes to win and doesnt show some of the sparring partner tendencies he has in the past. if miller gets through this hes due for a step up, as id say washington, wach, and duhaupas are sort of around the same level, granted even those 3 alone easily give miller a top 10 resume
seems hes on the aj rader. id say aj will fight him and povetkin next if the wilder fight isnt made
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Seen Miller twice and have been impressed regardless of his weight. He seems to know how to work it. What I've noticed.....He knows what he is. He comes at you. Touches you up, forces you to work. Seems to be slippery but in your face. Then when when you're weakening...he starts loading up. Not sure how this approach would work with a dynamite puncher such as AJ or Wilder although if he could smother them ......Very interesting (super) heavyweight.
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
I figure Miller will win this fight the same way as he won against Washington and Wach. Miller is a busy puncher for such a big guy and is constantly on the front foot. His jab is decent and he has a good inside game but he has never faced a big puncher so hasn’t seemed that bothered about defence. How will he fare against AJ or Wilder? Can he adapt?
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Miller came in at 304 and a quarter.
Nearly 60 pounds heavier than Duhaupas
That's 21 pounds (or 84 cheeseburgers) heavier than Millar weighed in his last fight.
From the pictures, he actually looks in good shape.

Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
The last couple of fights showed us that he was trying to cut weight, not that he's fat or anything. He does look okay.. but now he's back above 300 pounds.. he should sign for the WWE..
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
WWE could be an option for him later. Right now it looks like he is taking his training more seriously. He really has a genuine chance at a big money fight in the near future. It must be motivating him.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑27 Apr 2018, 19:19 The last couple of fights showed us that he was trying to cut weight, not that he's fat or anything. He said he came in too light last time out
This is the best physical shape I've seen him.
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Miller doesn't look any fatter than Joe Frazier... Just 100 pounds heavier... It's his body type more than anything.
It's really hard for some guys to get and keep fat off...
He's like an older George Foreman... At 250 pounds George looked really fat but he said it helped him to be fat... Maybe it's psychological for some guys... They want to be bigger and they think they're stronger... Not true but they believe it.

So a relatively wide UD for Miller. Anybody manage to watch it?
Will endeavour to watch it on YouTube today at some point.

Ah cheers Ruthless!
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Yeah I watched it.
Miller was dog shite. Puffed after 3 rounds and only fought in spurts the rest of the fight. Still just as easy to hit as usual, and still throwing mostly arm punches.
I think Whyte would be entertaining against him, Parker would make him look like a statue and Joshua would waste him.
No wonder Eddie wants to feed Miller to AJ, perfect patsy.

Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Have to disagree with you. I rate him. He’s got skill. Very comfortable in the ring. Just goes to work. He blitz Duhapus early, I mean he threw heavy leather. Bit of a beat down. He did slow...he’s too heavy plus he was working hard...but was able to control the fight and himself in the later rounds . I see that he does throw arm punches at times, but they are effective and if he was constantly throwing hard he would gas out.....hard. I think he’s a handful.KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 01:40 Yeah I watched it.

Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
well i thought he would stop duhaupas but maybe i underestimated duhaupas toughness, i mean he did show freakish chin vs wilder.
big baby certainly aint perfect but still i think hes right there with anyone after the elite top few guys like aj and wilder. i would like to see him fight parker or whyte or pulev. i feel thats the level he should be considered at for now,

Whyte is the fight I’d love and I’d favour him (Miller).

Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
I can only add that Wilder would spark him out sooner than later. Miller should proceed with caution.KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 01:40 Yeah I watched it.

Well the fight went as most of us called it, no surprises ... except how different people saw it. I know you know your stuff Kiwi, you are one of many posters on here whose opinion I respect, which makes our differing verdict curious and one of the things that makes boxing so interesting.KiwiRider wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 01:40 Yeah I watched it.

Miller showed me nothing I didn't already (believe I) know. He is an arm puncher I agree with you there, but I think he has a decent jab, a really good engine, throws a lot of punches which he mixes up quite beautifully, and he has very good skills and head movement. He does get hit but that is because he's right in your face, he's a front-foot fighter and applies relentless pressure. It's a testament to Duhaupas's heart and durability that he made it to the end.
Ok Duhaupas is no Joshua and no Wilder. They would be favourite to beat Miller but I wouldn't dismiss his chances against either of them. If ever he develops the punching power one might expect of a world-class 300lb heavyweight then he truly would be a force of nature. As it is he's no pushover for anyone.
All in my never very humble opinion of course.
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
even when miller puts his body into shots they dont really hurt guys right then. he will maul you and wear you down but vs solid competition i dont think he really can out of nowhere turn a fight around or suddenly finish a guy. he needs prolonged success to wear you down.
im really interested to see if he can move up a level or two and put in the type of grinding win that he has vs lower level comp. if he can still impose his strength and take the shots vs better punchers hell be a handful even without serious one shot power. also, wach, washington, and duhaupas were pretty defensive and he could work at his own pace. how will the stamina fair vs a better opponent who is hanging with him and having their own success? or is he so good that pretty much no one can do that?
i would like to see him next vs whyte, parker, or pulev. washington, wach, and duhaupas seem around a similar level and hes had similar one-sided fights vs them. time to move up next.

Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
I don't think Pulev would be interested in fighting Miller unless it was ordered by one of the governing bodies. Even then I get the impression he'd rather not be troubled with these pesky eliminators, and would cheerfully forego any title shot if they'd only just leave him alone.
As to the questions you asked, there are such guys although he is good enough to make that list a rather short and exclusive one. You named two of them in Whyte and Parker. I would add Ortiz to that list ,maybe Povetkin but I think Miller is all wrong for him. After that I'm struggling: Possibly Breazeale, possibly Takam, possibly Ruiz, ... Kabayel? Joe Joyce even?
To me the third best heavyweight in the world is between Miller, Parker, Whyte and Ortiz - sorry Sasha.

Gotta agree with this. Because Sasha is more of a light heavyweight / cruiser weight than a real heavyweight by modern standard.candyslim wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 13:06 I don't think Pulev would be interested in fighting Miller unless it was ordered by one of the governing bodies. The dude is 6'2" and about 225 lbs.
Some light heavyweight.
Still fixated on a competent heavyweight being 7' 300 lbs, are you?
Re: Miller V. Johann Duhaupas
Just in case you're not aware, light heavyweight is 175 lb. Around 55 lb lighter than Povetkin's last fighting weight. Please stop saying stupid things.Luis Fernando12 wrote: ↑29 Apr 2018, 13:23Gotta agree with this.
