Boxers who had to leave Britain due to being unpopular

Post by TheLeprechaun »

I think audley moved abroad because of stick he was getting. Bugner also said he had to leave after the Cooper fight. Any others?

Nigel Benn fought in USA a lot. Was that because he was never going to be as popular as Chris Eubank Sr. in the UK?

Audley lives in Westlake Village near LA. He didn't move because of any stick. He met his bird in Vegas in 2003 & moved out there to marry her.

They own a hair salon. He coaches kids football (socceeeeeeer). My mates kid played on his team.

Here's his house.

From what my mate says he's just a nice suburban neighbourhood bloke.

Does a fair bit of charity work too. Lives 20 minutes from Malibu beach. He lives a nice life (til the earthquake that's coming any day now hits)

Good one, he really messed up before leaving. He was great when he came back though. He deserves credit for that

No. After the loss to Watson he regrouped in the US. His style was very popular over here. He had five fights then returned to the UK.

He was more popular than Eubank with the common man back then. Eubank was the pet of the luvvies.

He comes across as a nice guy all said and done. It would be great to have him as a neighbour.

Audley didn’t leave the U.K. because he was unpopular, how can anyone not love him?
Khan went for fame and fortune, he was and is a star here.

It's interesting how Michael Conlan is making a popular career in the USA. His next outing is at the MSG.
The cheers he got from the crowd last time out was a pleasant surprise, given how early he is in his career.
Edit: I'm not saying he is unpopular, nor British.
