Lucas Matthysse vs. Amir Khan.

Post by VG_Addict »

If Matthysse beats Pacquiao, he should fight Khan afterwards. Khan is faster, but Matthysse still has the power to end the fight with one punch.

Matthysse looked pretty over the hill in his last fight where he won the prestigious regular title.

He looked very slow.

Unless he catches Pacquiao with a big shot, he figures to be helpless against Pac's speed and movement.

It would be the same against Khan. Matthysse would plod forward but would never catch him.

But we all know what would happen if Matthysse was fortunate to land a bomb on Khan's chin....

Lucas beating Manny is far from a given. Manny pulled it out against Vargas, and with a bit more focus on his training, could easily do it again.
Matthysse is about 2 years past prime speed, Khan isn't. His only hope is to land a bomb, because Khan will box his ears off every round. I would like to see them fight, points wise, it would be one sided, but the KO would alwasy be there for Matthysse if he could land it.

Lucas was hand picked by Manny himself.

Buboy going to win trainer of the year after that fight, and we're going to have to sit through Mayweather rematch talk again.

I think it's a dangerous fight for Manny. Not sure if he can dig deep enough anymore if he gets in trouble and Matthysse can thud.

Mathysse hasn't been "The Machine" since 2013.

Manny will have to really be a shell of himself to have a close fight with Lucas.

He won't have to find him, he's not bigger than him and he doesn't have to worry about any rough tactics.

Manny is going to look good.

No, he's not 'the machine' any more but Manny isn't Manny anymore. Matthyse is still a hitter. We'll see what happens, but I think it's not a no brainer here. Far from it.

They've both seen far better days, but Matthysse (who never boasted anywhere near as much overall skill as Pacquiao) is closer to the boxing graveyard than Manny.

Pac really isn't a shell of himself, as conventional wisdom would have it.

He simply isn't the circa 2010 Pacquiao. But he has enough speed, movement and boxing smarts to handle a faltering Matthysse, who never dealt very well with boxers to begin with (see Judah, Alexander and Garcia).

You may (as always senor) be right, but can't laugh off Lucas is all I'm saying here.
