Yeah it's a shame he was robbed of those last 10 seconds. I doubt he would've stopped Tim even so, but he definitely had him in A LOT of trouble.

Is this fight going to be before or after Loma-Linares?
I just had a look, Box-nation in the UK have dropped the fight.
Initially they were going to show Ali vs. Smith and then Linares-Loma..

Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
Either a lot of gamblers believe in Jaime Munguia or Sadam Ali simply isn't respected.
Ali opened a -250 favorite a few weeks ago.
Today the champ is only a -130 choice to retain his title over the unbeaten but untested Mexican.
Maybe fans are expecting a belated Cinco de Mayo present for Munguia.
I'm also beginning to feel that he very well may pull off the slight upset.
Ali can outquick and outbox him, but Munguia (who does have the frame of a larger fighter) is one of those tenacious punchers who may simply wear Ali down in the late rounds.
Ali's chin and resistance will be tested in this bout. He succumbed to Vargas' pressure and Vargas is no big puncher.
Let's see if the stronger Munguia can also turn the trick despite his relative inexperience.

Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
Some sportsbooks now have Ali-Munguia a pick 'em fight.
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
Munguia has power and something to prove. Ali is a skilled fighter, though. I think Ali wins a decision by the way, but I wouldn't bet on this fight.
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
Why do I have such disinterest for this fight?
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
I honestly don't think I know enough of both fighters to say, actually. At least I'm honest.
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
ali seriously hurt and down twice in the first but survives
fornicating massive size difference

ali down again at the end of the second. he looks like a little kid in there. cant see how he survives this .
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
alis corner needs to stop this. hes getting battered and has nothing to hold off the massive manuguia
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018

So, Munguia was too small for GGG ? He was lucky though that NSAC claimed so. Now he got a belt and did not get a career changing beating. Canelo should fight him soon, or there may be too late.
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
SMH. If it was any other promoter, this fight would have never even happened. Ali got too overconfident going to the ring with someone significantly larger than him.
Unless you're Mexican or a "money" fighter, Golden Boy is not looking out for your interest. They're looking out for the Mexican. Ali played himself, and I feel SAD for the guy. But I'm mad at him too, something is off with him. His instagram is private!! He's rejected me half a dozen times. What professional fighter willingly tries to not grow his fanbase.
Tells me something is off about his management and team. This fight was a total mismatch.

Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
I just caught the end of this and was laughing at the size difference. Dude was 2 divisions bigger. LMAO. Whoever is in charge of Ali's career should be fired. That is NOT how you follow up the steam he picked up from the Cotto fight. HORRID matchmaking.
Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
Of course, something is tremendously wrong with his team. His IG is private, so he clearly doesn't give a sh-t about growing his fanbase. A couple months ago he said he doesn't want to fight in the UK but in NY instead... even though the UK is home to all the other Yemeni champs/prospects, and there is a large demographic to expand his fanbase there.
Yet here he is fighting an oversized Mexican in Verona of all places instead of NYC. He didn't complain about that?!

Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
The more tapes I watched of Munguia the more I began to believe he very well could win.
He's so big for the weight, he's tenacious and hits hard.
Add to that, I've always been suspicious of Ali's stamina and ability to take it. You couldn't dismiss the Vargas fight.
Everyone knew that Cotto was getting old. Apparently he was real old physically, considering how Ali controlled him last December.
Munguia's still green but he's learning and is very strong physically.
How would you like to see a Munguia vs Hurd matchup?

Hurd is the same size, more skilled and more experienced. Odds would be like 20:1.SenorPipino wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 23:54 The more tapes I watched of Munguia the more I began to believe he very well could win.

Re: Sadam Ali vs. Jaime Munguia - May 12, 2018
Golden Boy took a serious L letting this fight happen. The size difference was comically bad. Munguia probably should be a MW and I told a few friends back home Ali should get a payday at 154, then go back to 147. If Cotto never got injured in their fight, he would have lost that. Hell, Vargas looked like a power puncher against him at 147. Just a terrible matchup for him, it's like Golden Boy gave a belt away.
I guess if you aren't a money maker or Mexican, they just don't care about you too much.

Well I called this one wrong as f*ck
Munguia vs Jarrett Hurd almost instantly became THE fight I'd want to see most in Boxing. What a war that would be.

Munguia is still too raw compared to Hurd and Charlo, but that gives him more room to develop. At only 21 he has time on his side!! He should hook up with someone like Nacho Beristain to polish the rough edges...SenorPipino wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 23:54 The more tapes I watched of Munguia the more I began to believe he very well could win.

Hurd's experience would certainly put him in the favorite's role, but it wouldn't be more than 1-3. And that could be an overlay. There's still a lot about Munguia we don't know.
Remember Hurd hadn't been that highly regarded previously. He was a slight underdog to aging Lara.
This was a breakout performance tonight by a fighter few had heard of or seen.
Considering how young he is, there's no telling how far Munguia will rise in the boxing world.
The kid's big and has power. Maybe Mexico's new Pipino Cuevas.

He would have had a better chance against Liam Smith. Only reason he didn't want to postpone that fight was because Ramadan starts this coming week and will last a month. He didn't want to waste a training camp I guess. But they chose the wrong guy for him.DA1 wrote: ↑12 May 2018, 23:33 SMH. If it was any other promoter, this fight would have never even happened. Gotta give Ali credit. Every knockdown he bounced up. He was being stalked. But he also traded too.
