David Price To Return on 27 July 2018

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

David Price will return to action at Bolton’s Macron Stadium on July 27.

Price (22-5-KO18) was stopped in a thrilling fight against former world champion Alexander Povetkin (34-1-KO24) last time out but despite defeat, the Liverpudlian is more determined than ever to reward his growing fanbase with a major title.

Price said, “I’m made up to be back. I’m grateful to MTK Global. They’ve delivered this fight for me and I’ve got my mojo back. I’m back in love with boxing.

“I really enjoyed the fight and the occasion last time out. It was great to be part of such a big event. My next fight won’t be on that scale but it’s a step back towards the big time.

“I said before I’d target the European title but I’m not solely focused on that. I just want another big fight and it could just as easily be for a world ranking title.

“A lot of inspiration has come from the fans. It’s really giving me such a boost. When you receive the support I have – especially after a defeat – it’s heartwarming.

“I’ve come in for some stick from the public over the last few years – some warranted, some not – but to see people throwing their support behind me now, I’m drawing on that.”

Thoughts on who he should fight?

What calibre of opponent? etc.

The EBU Heavyweight title is about the best that he could hope to accomplish. But he would be needing a soft opponent to become European Champion. Pricey has already shown us that when good European-level fighters come about, he tends to lose to them (Erkan Teper).

I can't imagine Pricey ever fighting for a World Heavyweight title, but if he did - he would surely be found out very quickly indeed.

If he accepts his limitations, sticks to a manageable level of opponent and claims an International or Intercontinental title, he should hold on to it, take easy fights, make the title his own, have lots of title defenses and he could make a good load of money.

Certainly enough to buy a house or three.

Thing is his stock went up because he was in a short exciting fight. No point him going in against cab drivers. Throw him in with bangers and let them slug it out.

he can win the euro title but theyd need to pick that really carefully. i think he could beat some of the guys kaybayel has fought for it.

he should get some wins first. focus on that and domestic level.

You reckon he would even beat Agit Kabayel?

I reckon Dimitrenko would beat him.

Thing is now, anyone that get's in the ring with Price, where they have to be aware of his power, they will most likely go for it as well.

agit kaybayel is good, price wouldnt probably beat him. but i think price could beat the guy kayabel won the ebu against

dimitrenko is a bit of a baby, if he gets nailed hard he could fold. also the guy who just held him to a draw couldnt last 3 with kaybayel.

dimitrenki, rovcanin, hubuex, etc....these guys are lower level then the good euro level/world level guys price has faced. i can see him winning the euro if he can get a title fight vs the likes of them. other guys who have fought for the ebu in the last few years include guys like franz rill. price can beat these fringe euro guys i think.

but as i said id like to see him rebuild domestically. im actually glad hes going on. just dont rush back into fights at too high a level man!

I'd actually enjoy it if Fury had a bunch of gimmick fights for a year or so as his comeback run.

At this stage he's not really above the others unless he proves otherwise.

None of those guys are crap opponents for Fury, but they're not all that great either.

They all seem like pretty good risk vs reward fights for Fury, but they're not a total foregone conclusion for him.

(big)IF he beat 4-5 of those in good style in the 12-18mths.., would he be ready for AJ ? As good as ever ?
That would be amazing for boxing, we can but dream. :o

Always thought Chisora was a good fight for Price.

He’d be confident against him, similar to how he was against Sexton, based on their previous spars etc

Del Boy is there to be hit and of course he carries a name.

I think they would be a good enough warm up to get ready to take on Joshua.

Maybe a fight with someone above that level like Pulev or Whyte before fighting Joshua would be better, but I don't think it is necessary.

Chisora is a lot better than Sexton though.

X2
Sexton is English level,
Chisora is World title challenger/gatekeeper level.
That's why DelBoy beat him twice with a bit to spare.

Seriously. He needs to have a brain scan, as I fear there IS already damage, considering how he has been stopped. Vicious!

His family should try and save him from himself. Maybe they've tried and he's told em where to go? I think it's clear to see everytime he steps up above domestic level he's gonna get hurt. Even now I wouldn't fancy his chances against up and comers like Gorman, Dubois and Joyce at domestic level! Sad to say but it doesn't look like Prices career will have a happy ending. It's a pity because he always comes across a top bloke.

Don't tell his family what they should do.

Who rattled your cage

If it was my family member I wouldn't want them putting themselves at risk of an inevitable shellacking. You're actually happy to see him continue despite him being brittle and absolutely shot to pieces? I knew you were a strange dude Horse but I never had you down as a sadist :OhYes:

Price has a shite chin. That doesn't mean that he should retire.

He should just fight at his level.

Suggesting that his family need to get involved seems disrespectful to me.
