Kubrat Pulev
Kubrat Pulev
BoxRec has dropped Pulev from the ratings. Is he done?

Re: Kubrat Pulev
I figured that. Just that there was a lot of thread posts on him being a contender and such. Kind of a dig on them. Wasn't sure though, of the time idle dropping requirements. Simply 12 months? Easy to remember. Thank you!
Re: Kubrat Pulev
He was rated No. 4 recently before he was removed from the ratings. If Joshua is going to fight Povetkin, then I think Wilder should fight Pulev. His only loss is to Klitschko and that is true for Povetkin as well.
Re: Kubrat Pulev
Looks like maybe Pulev/ Whyte from what I'm seeing/hearing.
Re: Kubrat Pulev
i really wanted to like Pulev...until i saw him stand there in front of Klinchko with zero head movement...........BOOM ...lights out.
Re: Kubrat Pulev
That's how he always fights. Uses his elite jab, but Klitschko's jab was superior. I don't think anyone else would bomb him out like that, and I think he beats Whyte easily.
Re: Kubrat Pulev
Dude hasn't fought in over a year and is not getting younger. IN his prime I would agree, now I'm not so sure.

I think he's more or less retired.... He tried to save a few dollars from Boxing... He's done better than most.oogiebe wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 18:49Dude hasn't fought in over a year and is not getting younger. IN his prime I would agree, now I'm not so sure.
I hope he does well and finds something else to do... What I hate is boxers who sit around spending their saving because they can't figure out what to do next... It's nice to take a vacation and relax... but what do you like to do besides box???
I asked a guy that recently and he said "Ahh let's see.... What do I like to do?? ....I like to watch TV" and he laughed... "Ask me again in a couple days." A couple weeks later I see him again and he says, "I'm thinking about it." You would think with all the jobs around it would be easy to figure out what you want to do next ... but at 40 or so it's not that easy.

I can vouch for that. It does change over time...you get lost a bit...Kalan wrote: ↑04 May 2018, 21:12I think he's more or less retired.... He tried to save a few dollars from Boxing... He's done better than most.

Damn! Why has he fought so infrequently? The only one who ever beat him was Wlad, tho he did so very convincingly. Meanwhile his younger and smaller brother, Tervel Pulev, is 10-0, 9 ko's, is the number one ranked cruiser in Bulgaria.

The main q is how the hell he was ranked so generously???

Re: Kubrat Pulev
You clearly haven't been following the WBC current affairs, have you?
Re: Kubrat Pulev
I have, but I think that both Joshua and Wilder need to improve their resumes before facing each other and we could also compare how they do against former opponents of Klitschko. Joshua beat Klitschko, but he was past his prime. Joshua beat Parker and Wilder beat Ortiz. That's not enough to sell a Joshua vs. Wilder matchup to bring in the kind of money that they both want.
Re: Kubrat Pulev
Well considering there is a pretty long line of people waiting for a pop at Wilder, I'm not sure plucking Pulev out of thin air will sit well with the likes of Whyte and Breazeale.RScarf1 wrote: ↑05 May 2018, 06:54I have, but I think that both Joshua and Wilder need to improve their resumes before facing each other and we could also compare how they do against former opponents of Klitschko. At this moment in time, I don't think Pulev will improve Joshua's resume (especially considering he holds 3 world title belts, and has already beaten much better opposition), and since when do two fighters with a poor resume have to improve it before fighting each other? If they both have poor resume's, then surely fighting each other will tick that box, rather than wasting their time with an inactive, unranked Bulgarian?
