Stylewise Bellew's awful for Haye as well.

A lot of people have said this and I just don't see it. Bellew's about three inches taller than me and 40lb heavier, but our arms are probably the same length because he's wider in the body. The range at which his punches become hurtful is the same range that Haye's are very hurtful. This limits Bellew to mostly 1-2s with sparing use of overhands and that left hook.

Bellew has to look for angles to land his straight right relatively safely. If Haye throws a jab and moves away from Bellew's right hand to look for an overhand right, for example, Bellew's plan is to beat him to it with the straight right on a natural pivot. Haye can feint that overhand and take a little step back instead to see if Bellew takes the bait. If Haye's legs have gone then he might not retain his naturally advantageous spacing and eat that left hook at some point, but with any kind of mobility he'll be making Bellew overreach or run most of the time.

When you use a reach advantage properly (all else roughly equal), you get to draw more reads out of your opponent than vice versa. Bellew might have the better defensive IQ, though.

Someone linked to Nunn's knockout of Kalambay recently, and if you watch that again then look at Nunn's feet. He took a little step to his right to create a squared path for his left. Haye could do the same, albeit moving to his left before unleashing those big rights, and all Bellew can do is bring his right hand back quickly (if it's gone walkabout) in defence. If Haye then falls in afterwards, Bellew doesn't have to worry too much about the right side of his body, since it's hard to get leverage when you're tangled. He's probably in trouble if Haye can get close with his hands free, though.

Crazy as it sounds and probably is, I think Bellew's best bet might be to go on the offensive from the first bell, not giving Haye any room to load up, all in the hope that Haye's fitness gives out during their rough-and-tumble before he lands anything big. Haye's weaker on the inside than out, so long as you watch his legs to see when he's coiling (Armstrong's the earliest fighter I know to have used that trick when toe-to-toe). I just feel that Haye's reach and power is cumulatively too much for Bellew, and it's Haye's fight to lose once again.

Bellew is overconfident for this one. He genuinely thinks that he would have beat Haye in the first fight even without injury and thinks he's knocking Haye spark out this time. Had was injured getting into the ring last time and still won most of theearly rounds. Bellew's only chance tonight is is if Haye can't pull the trigger. It'll be a slow methodical beat down tonight with Haye on the counter and picking shots. It'll be slow to begin with and the crowd will boo, then Haye will turn up theheat. Bellew won't win the lottery this time.

The telling part of bellew confidence is that he genuinely believes the fight was 3-2 in his favour, when in reality it was 4-1 haye and he was starting to judge the distance better.

If his belief is that he doesn't need to adjust because he beat haye last time then he is in for a shock if Hayes body doesn't give up.

He's the mouth that roared no doubt, but I see him winning fairly easily in this one.

Quite amazing so many had Haye to bang bellew. Looks like Bellew was again not taking to seriously here.

Haye was finished ever since the Chisora fight. That was years ago. Haye dished up nothing different here, he looked tired and passed it.

Big props to Bellew considering how fast he destroyed Haye. Also sad to see Haye get iced in such a manner.

That would've taken inside knowledge of Haye's condition. We had a ton of conjecture about how much of Haye was left, and how much was enough.

We didn't get it all that wrong on a matchup basis (supposing x percentage of Haye), but I agree I was swayed by my hopes to see a half-decent Haye one last time. If anything, he was worse.

I'm more coming around to the fact that Bellew has the style to cause Haye problems. He fought on the retreat and that nullified Hayes power and made him miss. It'll be an interesting fight and I wouldn't be shocked if Bellew beat him again.

Kind of went how I thought it might. As Bellew kept saying styles make fights and it was apparent from their first fight Bellew wasn’t an good opponent for Haye. The little steps back just nullified Hayes power so he was always throwing himself off balance or overreaching. I thought Haye would do better though if injury free but he looks like a shot fighter to me now. Time for him to retire, I’m amazed he didn’t announce it afterwards, not sure why he thinks he needs to rewatch it.
