Welsh Fighters in with British Champions-Jamie Ambler

Post by PredatorHayds »

After Welborn winning last night it means that Aberystwyths Jamie Ambler has now been in with 7 British champions.
Can anyone think of a Welsh fighter that’s been in with more?

Tried Samuels (4), Enzo (3) and Calzaghe (1).

Career away fighters don’t get much recognition. But 7 British champions is impressive regardless of the outcome.

Quick look at boxrec I tie Pryce for 7: Eubank, Saunders, Gavin, Jennings, Prince Aaron, Small, Olusegun, might be missing a few

The real Jamie Ambler is a stickler for correct prose; he’d never write exclusively in lower case.

Me!
Esham Pickering
Roy Rutherford x2
Gary Thornhill
Charles Shepherd
PJ Gallagher
Graham Earl
Colin Lynes

That's across 5 weights too

Add to that Jason Cook x2 Euro and IBO
Scott Dixon x2 Commonwealth and WBO
Carl Greaves WBF
Steve Conway IBO
Emiliano Casal Spanish Champ

So in total champs across 8 weights.

And Miguel Matthews does me for fun, I reckon with 12 and a few he fought more than once, on top of that add the likes of Hamed and Bredhal. For me he is the top Welshman ever.

Big up to Jamie Ambler though, tough man
